SSG (Ret) Douglas Wayne Pfeifer

Douglas Wayne Pfeifer, son of the late Joseph Edward Pfeifer III and Marilyn Ann (Simmons) Pfeifer, was born February 20, 1965 in Lansing, Michigan where he grew up and graduated from school. Douglas entered the United States Army and served his country faithfully for 20 years before he retired in 2007. In 2003, Douglas was deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom. For his faithful service, he earned several awards and commendations; some of which include: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (2nd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Driver and Mechanic With Driver, Wheeled Vehicle(S) Clasp, Driver and Mechanic Badge with Mechanic Clasp, and Driver and Mechanic Badge with S (Special Equipment) Operator Clasp. He had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. On February 8, 1988, Douglas was united in marriage to Theresa Lynn Myles in Junction City, Kansas. They shared over 31 years of marriage together and were blessed with four children: Dougie, Tascha, Devine and Ryan. After retiring from the military, Douglas continued to serve his country as a Department of Defense employee until his passing. In his spare time, Douglas enjoyed being outdoors. He loved the great outdoors and was very knowledgeable in all aspects of hunting, fishing or camping. He was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs football fan. He looked forward to every game that he could watch or attend. Most importantly, he loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. He was a very good husband, father and grandfather. Douglas passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in his home having attained the age of 54 years. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Theresa Pfeifer of Laquey, MO; four children: Dougie Pfeifer (Brandy) of St. Robert, MO, Tascha Pfeifer of St. Robert, MO, Devine Pfeifer (Michele) of Laquey, MO and Ryan Pfeifer (Meagan) of Waynesville, MO; eight grandchildren: Kohle, Laithen, Kambry, Zaide, and Cohen Pfeifer, Nylah Harris and Ellie and Finnley Pfeifer; step-mother: Patti Pfeifer of Richmond, VA; two brothers: Mike and Joe Pfeifer of the state of Michigan; one sister: Joanna Wright (Chris) of the state of Michigan; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Graveside services with military honors were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville with Chaplain (CPT) Matthew Ailstock officiating. Military honors were provided by the United States Army of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Douglas Pfeifer and may be left at the funeral home.
