Joseph N. Noel Jr.

Joseph N. Noel, Jr., son of the late Joseph Nathaniel Noel, Sr. and Willie Mae (Perkman) Noel, was born December 8, 1947 in Pensacola, Florida where he grew up and graduated from Washington High School. For a short time, Joseph worked for the Pensacola Water Company in Florida until he entered the United States Army in 1972. He served his country faithfully until his retirement in 1992. He had attained the rank of Sergeant First Class and had earned several awards and commendations; some of which include: Army Service Ribbon, Non Commissioned Officers’ Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Good Conduct Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, Overseas Service Ribbon (4), and the National Defense Service Medal. On September 17, 1990, Joseph was united in marriage to Oe S. Noel in Rolla, Missouri. They shared over 26 years of marriage together before she preceded him in death on April 10, 2016. In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed being outdoors while fishing. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ft. Leonard Wood Lions Club and the NAACP Chapter Pulaski County Branch #4008. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Joseph passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 in his home having attained the age of 69 years. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Joseph leaves to cherish his memory one daughter: Shelly Noel-Brown of Mobile, AL; one brother Donald (Chong) Noel of Harker Heights, TX; two granddaughters: Kierra and Barcleigh Brown of Mobile, AL; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Joseph was preceded in death by one brother: Ronald Noel. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Pastor Kenneth Hicks officiating. Elder Alcorne read Scripture and Joe’s friends, Larry Jackson and Samuel Steele, recalled their wonderful memories of Joe. Burial with military honors followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville. Military honors were provided by the United States Army of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Joseph Noel and may be left at the funeral home.
