Marikay Pollreisz

Marikay Pollreisz, daughter of the late Philip and Geraldine (Jensen) Policello, was born September 24, 1946 in Omaha, Nebraska. She departed this life Friday, November 15, 2013 in the Boone Hospital Center, Columbia, Missouri having attained the age of 67 years, 1 month and 22 days. Marikay attended St. Cecelia’s Catholic School in Omaha, Nebraska where she grew up. Education was very important to her as she earned a Bachelor’s degree at Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa, and later, her Master’s degree at the University of Missouri in Columbia. On September 27, 1969, Marikay was united in marriage to her love, Joseph Albert Pollreisz at St. Cecelia’s Cathedral, in Omaha, Nebraska. They shared over 40 years together before he preceded her in death on February 24, 2010. Marikay and Joe were blessed with two daughters, Brenda and Nicol. Marikay was a woman of faith. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church near Richland. Marikay enjoyed taking care of her home and family, however she worked outside the home as well, at the University of Missouri Medical Center in the Pathology Department as a medical technician and also for the Red Cross. Marikay and Joe had a dream of having a log cabin someday, and in 2006 that dream came true when they retired and built that cabin on the old Pollreisz farm. Marikay loved spending time with her family, whether attending Nikki’s music performances, or sharing a Tai Chi Chih class in Lebanon with Brenda, Marikay treasured every moment. Marikay had a servant’s heart and found ways to help out whether volunteering her time officiating at the USS swim meets, or helping out with Meals on Wheels, she just enjoyed helping people. In her spare time you could find her curled up with a good book, especially mysteries, or watching TV shows like, He-Haw and Larry’s Country Diner. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters: Brenda Pollreisz of the home and Nikki Pollreisz of Columbia, Missouri. Marikay will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 23, 2013 in the St. Jude's Catholic Church of Richland, Missouri with Father John Groner officiating. Congregational songs led by Karen Glawson included, "City of God" and "On Eagles Wings". Serving as escorts were Scott Pollreisz, Trevor Thurin, Corey Rowden, Quincy Thurin, Allan Pollreisz, Gary Picard, Roy Rowden, Tim Pollreisz, Don Schutt, Kenny Pollreisz, Jim Pollriesz, Jim Smith, Albert Pollreisz, Michael Picard, Ed Schutt, Charles Rowden, Bill Pollresiz, David Pollreisz and Rodney Condon (In Memoriam). A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014 in the Mt. View Cemetery near Richland, Missouri, with Father John Groner officiating. Arrangements are under the direction on Memorial Chapel of Richland. Memorials are suggested in memory of Marikay Pollreisz to the St. Jude Catholic Church and may be left at Memorial Chapel of Richland.
