Michael Hunter "Tommy" Henson

Michael Hunter Henson, son of the late Jess and Vivian Rachael (Crossland) Henson was born June 14, 1945, in Tuson, Arizona. “Tommy,” as he was known by, was only a week old when his family decided to move to Richland, Missouri, where “Tommy” lived out his entire life and attended school. Tommy loved his community of Richland and was known by everyone. He was kind and friendly and had never met a stranger. Tommy married the love of his life, Carol Ann Miller on December 17, 1965 in Richland, Missouri. For over fifty-eight years Tommy and Carol strolled through life hand in hand while raising their two sons, Michael and Matthew God had blessed them with. The pride and joy they felt for their sons was immense. Tommy accepted Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Richland, where he and Carol had attended. Tommy worked at several boat factories over the years however, he retired from Carmeco in Lebanon, Missouri. He enjoyed genealogy, sharing and gathering photographs from the past. In his younger days, Tommy enjoyed playing pool and pitching horseshoes and was proud of the many trophies he’d received, however, time spent, and memories made with his family and grandchildren were Tommy’s life’s treasures. On the quiet evening of Saturday, June 29, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family, Tommy went home to be with his Lord and Savior having attained the age of seventy-nine. Tommy was preceded in death by parents, two sisters, Carolyn Rose Crossland and Alice Duncan, three brothers, Jessie Spiro Henson, Billy Henson, and Victor Henson, and one sister-in-law, Donna Atkins. “Tommy” leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Carol of their home in Richland; two sons, Michael Henson (Jennifer) of Richland, MO, and Matt Henson of Lebanon, MO; 4 grandchildren, Keegan, Carsyn, Caysie, and Kemper Henson; one brother, Gary Henson (Lucy) of Richland, MO, five sisters, Linda Jefferies of Richland, MO, Beverly Elson (Harold) of Richland, MO, Azalee Henson of Richland, MO, Jessica Warren (Bill) of Richland, MO, and Martha Burke-Wilson (Pete) of Stoutland, MO; three sisters-in-law, Phyllis Henson of Richland, MO, Peggy York and Kathy Sloan (Ray) all of Lebanon, MO; one brother-in-law, David Miller (Beth) of Stoutland, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and many friends. Tommy was a loving husband, proud father and grandfather, a loyal friend and neighbor loved by all and will be forever missed by those who knew and loved him. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Brother, Gary Henson officiating. The song “Go Rest High on That Mountain” was played. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery of Richland with Pastor Landon Justice sharing scripture verses before closing in prayer. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of “Tommy” Henson and may be left at the Memorial Chapel of Richland.
