SFC (Ret) Robert Martin Patrick

Robert Martin Patrick, son of Charles Martin Patrick and Betty Louise (Paskett) Patrick, was born October 20, 1969 in Everett, Washington. He passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020 in the Mayo Clinic of Rochester, Minnesota having attained the age of 50 years. As a young boy, Robert grew up in the Salt Lake City, Utah area and graduated from East High School. Robert loved his country and served with the Utah National Guard for five years before enlisting with the United States Army where he spent 22 years of active duty until his retirement in 2015 after 27 years. He served all over the world: Honduras, Panama, Alaska, Colorado, Germany, Missouri and Okinawa, Japan; and also served in Operation Desert Storm, Global War on Terrorism, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. For his faithful service, he earned several awards and commendations; some of which include: Iraq Campaign Medal w/4 Campaign Star, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal w/V Device, Army Commendation Medal (6th Award), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Valorous Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal w/Bronze Service Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, South West Asia Service Medal w/ Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3rd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (6th Award), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Combat Action Badge (2nd Award), and Driver and Mechanic Badge w/Driver-Wheeled Vehicles Clasp. After his retirement from the military, Robert continued serving his county by working at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital on Fort Leonard Wood. He was also employed as a maintenance coordinator for Walker Realty. On May 5, 2000, Robert was united in marriage to Sondra Michelle Stone in Fort Greely, Alaska. They shared over 20 years of marriage together and many wonderful memories. Robert was an outdoor guy, so in his spare time, you would find him doing one of several outdoor activities; fishing, hunting, working outdoors, scuba diving, playing golf, riding ATVS or taking a ride on his motorcycle. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan, NASCAR fan and Seattle Seahawks football fan. Robert especially loved spending time with his family and friends and looked forward to every opportunity they could spend together. Robert was a member of the VFW, Legend Riders Riding Club, and was a Dive Master with PADI. He also owned and operated his own business, Patrick Officiating LLC, which he loved. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Robert will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Sondra Patrick of the home; his father: Charles Patrick of South Weber, UT; three children: Ashley Starnes (Greg) of Ravenden, AR, Hailey Rivera (Michael) of Angleton, TX and Cheyenne Steed (Lowell) of Oklahoma City, OK; six grandchildren: Xander Dixon, Lexi Dixon, Camden Starnes, Laura Starnes and Carly Starnes, all of Ravenden, AR and Zoe Steed of Oklahoma City, OK; two brothers: William Patrick (Tina) and Frank Patrick (Jamie), all of South Weber, UT; two sisters: Tamara Tracy (Russ) and Lisa Miller, all of South Weber, UT; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, especially Cody and Emilee Hawks, Steve and Johna Walker, all the Legend Riders, all his officials and soldiers. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2020 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville with Bishop Trent Evans officiating. The songs “Go Rest High on that Mountain” by Vince Gill, “The Dance” by Garth Brooks and “My Last Breath Here” by Nick Nichols was played. Several friends and family members recalled their wonderful memories of Robert. Serving as escorts were Frank Patrick, Greg Starnes, Steve Walker, Bill Patrick, Michael Rivera and Cody Hawks. Serving as honorary escorts were Xander Dixon, Lowell Steed, Mikel Patrick, Paul Killough and Noa Miller. Burial with military honors followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville. Military honors were provided by the Missouri Honors Team.
