Trisha Homan

Trisha Caitlin Homan, daughter of Richard Martin and Dee Ann (Howlett) Homan, was born June 25, 2002 in Springfield, Missouri and went home to be with her Lord on Friday, August 20, 2021 in the Barnes Jewish Hospital of St. Louis, Missouri. Trisha leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted parents, Rich and Dee Ann Homan of Richland, MO; her brother, Trent Homan (fiancé: Bekah Maddack) of Lincoln, IL; paternal grandparents, Junior and Barb Homan, and maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Louise Howlett all of Richland, MO; aunts and uncles: Jonathan Homan and his wife, Angie of Lebanon, MO, Joellyn Rae Dean of Richland, MO, Pam Layton and her husband Jamie of Branson, MO, and Bob Howlett and his wife Marnie of Springfield, MO; her cousins, as well as, a host of other relatives and friends. Trisha was saved and baptized on November 11, 2010, by her dad at First Christian Church. She enjoyed participating in various activities with her church family, such as Bible School, Christmas programs, and a variety of church outings. She looked forward to and enjoyed spending time with her friends and peers. She faithfully attended services with her family until it physically became too difficult to do so. Trisha grew up in Richland and attended Richland Elementary School. During her seventh grade year of school, she was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis 2 (NF2) and began to lose her hearing. She completed her education at home and graduated in May, 2020. Trisha had a passion for her dogs Hannah, Tess and Toby. She spent time taking care of them, photographing them, planning their birthday parties, Christmas celebrations and buying them gifts. They provided her great companionship and joy. During her mid-teens Trisha took a great interest in a healthy lifestyle through proper nutrition and exercising. She created her own comprehensive workout program and independently and faithfully followed it. She liked baking from scratch. Cakes and cookies were her specialty. For her high school graduation gift she requested a KitchenAid mixer which she thoroughly enjoyed. Trisha also had a natural talent for designing space. She not only came up with multiple plans for her own bedroom, but she helped and worked with her parents on many home improvements. Trisha had an adventurous spirit that led to traveling. This included going to the beach and swimming with the dolphins, Disneyworld, Mount Rushmore, Chicago and visiting various unique eating establishments. She loved vacationing with her family and challenged them to experience new things. Her passion and knowledge of football was shared with her brother and dad. Not only did she visit Arrowhead Stadium, but she built a friendship with a Kansas City Chiefs’ cheerleader at an NF2 walk. The best part of being a fan of the KC Chiefs was cheering themon to win Super Bowl 54. She made homemade football cupcakes, decorated the house with lights, and trimmed everything out in Chiefs’ décor. Trisha’s favorite holiday was Christmas. She took time thoughtfully choosing just the right gifts for those she loved. The holidays seemed more complete to her when the celebration was at her house. She was in charge of all holiday decorating, including the flocked tree in her bedroom. One of her favorite traditions was attending the Candlelight Service with her family. During the Covid pandemic dear friends planned the service at her home on the front lawn. Trisha could be described as determined and this characteristic equipped her for each day. She bravely met challenges with her witty sense of humor and persistence. Her inquisitive spirit drove her to question and find knowledge. She didn’t settle for just being told something. As she grew older, she learned to value the investment that others made in her. Trisha’s family would like to share with everyone that they have been blessed beyond measure to live in such a caring community. Trisha truly appreciated the Facebook comments and “likes” that she received on a regular basis, as they were a constant source of encouragement. Her family is eternally grateful to their church family, the people of Richland and various other communities for their many acts of kindness. Thank you to all who helped with fundraisers and to all who donated in a multitude of ways to help with her medical expenses. Thank you to the young people in the community who donated the proceeds from the sale of animals at the county fair on more than one occasion. Their unselfish sacrifice will never be forgotten. Thank you for the dozens of cards she was showered with while still in the ICU on her 18th birthday, and most recently for the “Flower Shower” she received at her home on her 19th birthday. Thank you to her army of “Prayer Warriors” who continuously lifted her up to her loving Heavenly Father in her daily fight to deal with the consequences of living in a broken world. Trisha was truly loved and our debt of gratitude is something that can never be fully repaid. “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 Funeral services were held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in the Richland High School Gymnasium with Pastor Landon Justice officiating. Family friends, Rob Black read the obituary and Brett Laxton gave a beautiful eulogy of Trisha. Music was provided by Trisha's uncle, Jamie Layton as he sang "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", Trisha's friends, Zach and Grace Hand sang "Your Grace Still Amazes Me", and the song "Scars in Heaven" by Casting Crowns was played. Serving as escorts were Jamie Layton, Bob Howlett, Jonathan Homan, Wade Howlett, Houston Black, and Justin Homan. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2021 in the Oaklawn Cemetery of Richland. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Trisha Homan and may be left at Memorial Chapel of Richland.
