April Dawn Miles

April Dawn Miles, daughter of Alan Guy Layman and Terry (Lister) Layman, was born October 16, 1971 in Kingman, Kansas. Most of her growing up years were spent in Kingman before she and her family moved to Springdale, Arkansas where she graduated from high school. She continued her education and earned several college credits. After graduating from high school, April continued to live in Arkansas and it was there that she met a young man by the name of Cornell Miles, Jr. They were united in marriage in Rogers, Arkansas and in September 2020, they decided to move to St. Robert, Missouri to be closer to Cornell’s family. April enjoyed doing crafts. You could find her sewing most of the time and she loved making items for friends and family. She also liked to cook and was always looking for a new recipe to try. April was also an avid supporter for concealing and carrying firearms. She was a firm believer in being able to protect yourself. April passed away Monday, February 12, 2024, in her home having attained the age of 52. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Cornell Miles, Jr of their home in St. Robert; her son, Paxton J. Goodrich of Rogers, AR; her daughter, Kaitlin L. Miles of Rogers, AR; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cornell Sr. and Laura Miles of Waynesville, MO; her siblings, Crystal Vega of Fayetteville, AR, Shynne Michael Layman and Brett Layman, both of Wichita, KS; brother-in-law: Vic L. (Kim) Miles of Rogers, AR; sister-in-law: Melva D. (Horace) McBean of Haverstraw, NY; an aunt, Annette Layman of Kingman, KS; five nieces and two nephews; several cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. April was preceded in death by her parents: Alan Layman and Terry (Lister) Layman. Even though she is gone from our sight, April’s spirit will live on in our hearts forever. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2024 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville, MO. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions in memory of April Miles may be made and may be left at the funeral home.
