Bonnie Jean Tallant

Bonnie Jean Tallant, daughter of the late Ernest and Sarah Aileen (York) Wofford, was born at the family home outside of Licking, Missouri. She began her formal education in a one room school house that was located near the family farm. She graduated from Licking High School in 1955. Bonnie received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1949 during a revival service at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Dent County, Missouri. She was later baptized in the Current River below Montauk State Park. AT the time of her passing, she was a faithful member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church in Laclede County. On October 17th, 1957, Bonnie married the love of her life, Billy L. Tallant at the same church where she was saved. To this union, two children were born, Cheryl Ann and William Mark. While serving as a loving homemaker and mother, Bonnie also served as the custodian of Hickory Hills Baptist Church for over twenty years. In Bonnie’s younger years, summers were spent taking care of the yard, painting the house, and fishing the Gasconade River with her sister-in-law Lucille. In later years, she enjoyed camping with her family, painting baskets and ceramics, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Bonnie spent thirty-seven years as a faithful Pastor’s wife, belonging to and serving wherever the Lord called them. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Aileen Wofford, and one sister, Shirley D. Freeze. Bonnie went home to be with her Lord Friday, November 4, 2016 in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehab Center of Lebanon, Missouri having attained the age of seventy-nine years. Bonnie leaves to cherish her memory, her husband: Billy L. Tallant of the home; two children: Cheryl Ann (Michael) Wilson of Lebanon, MO and William Mark (Lisa) Tallant of Richland, MO; four grandchildren: Joshua (Brandie) Wilson of Springfield, MO, Heather Dawn (Lenny) Lenard of Lebanon, MO, Courtney Leigh (Sheldon) Toler of Bolivar, MO and Aaron Douglas (Rachel) Tallant of Bolivar, MO; four great grandchildren: Madison Knipp, Craig Wilson, Layton Lenard and Norah Wilson; other relatives and friends. In passing, Bonnie took one step from the present life into everlasting life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2016 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Pastor Bill Dudley officiating. Becky Lercher sang “How Great Thou Art”, “Mansion Over the Hilltop” and “Meet You in the Morning”. DeWayne Baker sang “Amazing Grace”. Serving as escorts were Josh Wilson, Lenny J. Lenard, Aaron Tallant, Sheldon Toler, Adam Tallant, Brian Tallant, and Rick Tallant. Serving as honorary escorts were Wesley Ellzey, D.W. DeMott, Estil Becker and Donley West. Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery of Waynesville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bonnie Tallant to the American Cancer Society and may be left at the funeral home.
