Brenda Joy Todd

Brenda Joy Todd, the second of four children of Reman “Herald” Compton, Jr. and Winifred “Winnie” (Hahn) Compton, was born February 29, 1952 in Minot, North Dakota. In 1962, Brenda and her family moved to Waynesville and she graduated from Waynesville High School in 1970. On June 4, 1971, Brenda married the love of her life, Phillip Gregory Todd in Waynesville, Missouri. They shared over 39 wonderful years of marriage together and were blessed with one son, Bradley. Brenda worked at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital of Fort Leonard Wood for 30 years in many capacities. Her main responsibility was Disabilities Counselor. In her spare time, she enjoyed collecting and polishing rock. Brenda loved to travel and was able to take several trips where she enjoyed the great outdoors and also took some overseas trips. She liked to fish, read, and watch movies. She enjoyed watching Cardinal Baseball games, whether it was in person or on television. In the spring of 1985, Brenda accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized. She was a very faithful member of Faith Baptist Church of Waynesville and helped in every way that she could until her health did not permit her to do so. Brenda went home to be with her Lord at 10:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved her. Brenda leaves to cherish her memory her husband: Phil; her son: Bradley Todd of Waynesville; her parents: Herald and Winnie Compton of Crocker; two brothers: David Compton (Viola) of Baltimore, MD and Ricky Compton (Gail) of Richland; one sister: Lori Mense (John) of Stafford, VA; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory with Pastor Mike Curtis and Tracy Storie officiating. Soloist Tama Wilkerson sang “Amazing Grace” and “I Can Only Imagine”. Serving as escorts were Charlie Storie, Richard York, Jason York, Gary Freymiller, Tony Harom and Jon Storie. Burial followed in the Colly-Hollow Cemetery near Buckhorn, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Brenda Todd to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
