Candace Lucille (Miller) Smith

Candace Lucille (Miller) Smith entered this world on September 26, 1962 in Coos Bay, Oregon and departed this life on October 16, 2023 in her home in Dixon, Missouri after a hard and courageous battle with cancer. She had attained the age of 61 years. Candy, daughter of Elmer Floyd Miller and Geraldine Gayle (Stewart) Miller, grew up in Lakewood, Washington where she graduated from high school. Later in her life, she furthered her education and became a Certified Medical Assistant. On September 10, 1996, Candy was united in marriage to Edward Smith in Las Vegas, Nevada and they shared over 27 years of marriage together and many wonderful memories. Candy worked hard to help provide for her family and served as a CMA at Mercy Clinic of St. Robert, Missouri from 1998 – 2021 and then worked for the Post Immunization Team on Fort Leonard Wood from 2021 – 2023. She made so many friends with co-workers and some of the patients that she served throughout her working years. In her spare time, Candy had a special talent when it came to crafts. If you need something done, just ask Candy because she could get it done in the most crafty and creative way possible. She also enjoyed traveling, especially with her family and friends, and being outside while gardening. Candy leaves to cherish her memory her husband: Ed Smith of Dixon, MO; daughter: Jamie Miller of Dixon, MO; son: Jeromy Young (Diana) of Dixon, MO; three grandchildren: Sylus Young, Faith Young, and Grace Young; three brothers: Mark Miller of Dixon, MO, Floyd Miller of Waynesville, MO, and Lonnie Miller (Eunmi) of Waynesville, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Geraldine Miller, and her father, Elmer Miller. Even though she is gone from our sight, Candy’s love of life, family and attitude of service will live on in our hearts forever. Celebration of Life services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2023 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Pastor Archie Atwell, Sr. officiating. The songs " If I Die Young" by the Band Perry, and "Jealous of the Angels" by Donna Taggert were played and Archie Atwell, Jr. and Heather Atwell sang "Through It All". Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville, MO. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Candace Smith and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
