Charles Donald "Chuck" Summers

Charles Donald Summers, better known as “Chuck,” to those he knew and loved, was born on April 7, 1943, in Hinch, Missouri, to Charley Morton and Elva Mae (Richards) Summers. Chuck attended school until the eighth grade before leaving to help his dad work on the family farm. Chuck married the love of his life, Dixie Lee Brush on May 23, 1964, in Bourbon, Missouri. He and Dixie spent over fifty-eight years together sharing a lifetime of love, and laughter before he was called home. Chuck felt truly blessed to have spent his life with his best friend and beloved wife, Dixie. God later blessed them further with four beautiful daughters who he loved and cherished. He made an important decision, asking Jesus Christ to become his personal Lord and Savior during his teenage years. Later in life Chuck was ordained as a deacon. He enjoyed sharing the good news with folks he encountered along life’s journey. Chuck was a dearly loved member of Grace Baptist Church in Richland, where on occasion would bless folks by using his God given talent of singing and playing his guitar. Chuck’s working years were spent at places such as, Playcraft, Lowe Boats, and ATR. Although he worked hard to provide for his family, he also took time to enjoy his favorited pastimes such as, playing his guitar and singing with several bands at Praters, in Lebanon, and the Country Corral in Stoutland. He at one time belonged to a car club, and also enjoyed being an avid outdoorsman, whether hunting, fishing, riding his tractor, or just tinkering around his farm near Richland, where Chuck loved being the most with Dixie by his side, a grandchild on his lap, or just enjoying a heart-to-heart conversation with his family and friends, each one held a special place in Chuck’s heart. Chuck left for his heavenly home on the morning of Monday, December 19, 2022, with his loving wife and family by his side, having obtained the age of 79. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William Summers, two sisters, Gladys Wymer and Betty Pennock, one infant daughter, Cindy Lee Summers, and one infant granddaughter, McKenzie Nicole. Chuck leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife: Dixie Summers of the home; three daughters: Crystal Reed of Richland, MO, Angel Summers of Leasburg, MO, and Rena Summers (John Clark) of Lebanon, MO; seven grandchildren: Dustin Summers (Kiara Wesenberg) of Lebanon, MO, Heather George (Nicholas) of Richland, MO, William Reed of Bourbon, MO, Cody Weekes (Araynah) of Sullivan, MO, Christopher Moore of Leasburg, MO, Daniel Ford of Leasburg, MO and Jacob Moore of Leasburg, MO; three great grandchildren: Hailey, Alexus, and Brooklyn; two great-great grandchildren: Makenzlee and Carsyn; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Chuck left these comforting words to the family he loved so dearly, “See You In Heaven!” We will forever cherish with fond memories; all of the days God gave us with him, but oh, what a wonderful day Chuck had the morning God took his hand and said, “Welcome home Chuck, welcome home my son!” Services were held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Grace Baptist Church of Richland with Pastor Tony Shaw officiating. Recorded songs “If You Only Knew,” “Make Me A Promise,” and “Mansion Over the Hilltop” were played. Friends and family shared touching memories of Chuck. Escorts included Dustin Summers, William Reed, Ralph Forester, Nick George, Jon Clark, and Cody Weeks. Burial followed in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Chuck Summers and may be left at Memorial Chapel of Richland.
