Helen Marie Parsons

Helen Marie Parsons, daughter of the late Jeff and Grace (Preston) Hawk was born March 20, 1942 in Seligman, Missouri where she grew up and attended school. Helen graduated from Southwest High School in Washburn, Missouri in 1960 and later went on to attend Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. On June 18, 1960, Helen was united in marriage to Al Donald Parsons in Seligman, Missouri. Together they shared over 43 years of marriage and were blessed with three children: Maxie, Madonna, and Allie. Helen enjoyed all the beauties of the Ozarks. Whether she was on the farm along the Roubidoux, in the yard listening to the birds and watching animals, or working in the garden or with her many different flowers, she would try to make the most of each day. The collecting of antiques and crafts was a large part of her life as well. She took great pride in the love of her family, and treasured the moments spent with her grandchildren and great granddaughter. Although her family came first, she also devoted her time and love to every member of her extended family in the Waynsville Study Club for over 20 years. Proud of each project the club particpated in towards the betterment of the community, Helen was also proud of the love and friendship shared by each member. Helen departed this life the morning of Thursday, May 13, 2004 in her home near Laquey, Missouri having attained the age of 62 years, 1 month and 23 days. Helen will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by her husband Al of the home; two daughters; Maxie Buescher of Springfield, Missouri and Madonna Parsons of Miami, Florida; one son: Allie Parsons of Laquey, Missouri; two sisters: Debbie Hawk of the state of Texas and Kelly Wright of Springfield, Missouri; one brother: Frank Hawk of Skiatook, Oklahoma; five grandchildren: Preston Cook, Montana Parsons, Taylor Rose, Mackenzie Buescher and Grace Lumbreras; one great-granddaughter: Kloie Cook; her aunt: Winnie Hooper of Springfield, Missouri; her nephew and caregiver: Lance Hawk of Laquey, Missouri; several nieces, other nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey Hawk and great-grandson, Koby Preston Cook. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Charles Nickel officiating. Friends of Helen, Annette Troutt and Cindy Grizzell, gave beautiful eulogies as well as Helen's daughter, Madonna and grandsons, Preston and Montana. The songs "The Dance, " "I Can Only Imagine" and "Amazing Grace" were played. Rev. Nickel closed his message by leading the congregation in singing "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder". Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Helen Parsons to the Waynesville Study Club and may be left at the funeral home.
