Hilda Marie Butcher

Hilda Marie Butcher, daughter of the late Harold Joseph and Myrtle Ethel (Kirkland) Yahnert, was born January 7, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended school in Welesfield, Ohio. On January 28, 1944, Hilda was united in marriage to Benjamin Maxwell Butcher in Louisville, Kentucky. They shared over 59 years of marriage together and many wonderful memories. They were blessed with three children: James, Pauline and Marie. Ben preceded her in death in April 2003. Due to Ben being in the military, Hilda and the family moved to several different places. All of the children were born in Ohio and the family eventually found themselves at Fort Leonard Wood in August 1960. After Ben retired, they decided to stay in the Waynesville area. Hilda was a hardworking woman and took great pride in helping to provide for her family. She worked at the Fort Leonard Wood Post Laundry before going to Dixon Brown Shoe LB Manufacturing where she worked for 13 years. After leaving the shoe company, she began working for Fasco in Eldon and Tipton from 1973 until 1988 when she retired. In her spare time, Hilda enjoyed country shows and listening to country music. She also was able to go to her grandchildren’s baseball and basketball games especially after she retired. Hilda and Ben also enjoyed watching wrestling together and in fact she had two cats that she named Hulk Hogan and Sting. Hilda was a member of the Crocker Christian Church and also the Francis J. Lynch VFW Post 3168 Ladies Auxiliary. Hilda passed away at 6:40 pm, Saturday, June 16, 2012 in the UHHS Richmond Heights Hospital of Richmond Heights, Ohio having attained the age of 86 years, 5 months and 9 days. She will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved her. Hilda leaves to cherish her memory her three children: James Butcher (Janet) of Cleveland, Ohio; Pauline Ziegenbein (James) of St. Roberts, Mo. and Marie Stephens (Ernest) of Booneville, MO; one sister Thelma Harmotto of Windham, Oh; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Hilda was preceded in death by two sisters: Marian Parker and Ida Urbanowiz and one brother: Richard Yahnert. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Rev. Richard Sapp officiating. The songs “Three Wooden Crosses”, “If I Could Hear My Mother Pray Again” and “I’ll Fly Away” were played. Serving as escorts were family and friends. Burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery of Waynesville. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Hilda Marie Butcher and may be left at the Memorial Chapel and Crematory of Waynesville.
