James Dean "Jim" Hayes

The son of the late Christopher Hayes and Rose (Laccesagua) Hayes, James Dean “Jim” Hayes was born in Washington, Missouri on March 17, 1957. Jim, as he was known by his friends and family, attended school in the Waynesville R-VI School District and graduated with the Class of 1975. During his time in school, he was known for being a great football player. On December 10, 1977, Jim was united in marriage to Louisa Jean “Weezer” Clark in Crocker, Missouri. They shared over 44 years of marriage together and blessed with three children: Chandra, Jason, and Anthony, before Louisa preceded Jim in death on March 1, 2022. Jim worked hard and provided well for his family, owning and operating his own painting business. From 1981 – 2007, “Gentleman Jim”, as he was known on the racetrack circuit, raced cars on dirt and asphalt tracks and was awarded track champion for both types of surfaces. For his success on the track, the family was just informed that Jim will be inducted into the Missouri Racing Hall of Fame. Jim not only raced cars over the years, but he also enjoyed coaching baseball and loved a good meal while visiting with family and friends. He loved spending time with his family, but especially the grandchildren who enjoyed going to see Granpa Jim. Jim passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in his home in Crocker having attained the age of 67 years. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory his three children: Chandra Inman (Bobby) of Richland, MO, Jason Hayes of Lebanon, MO, and Anthony Hayes of Crocker, MO; seven grandchildren: AJ Hayes of Crocker, MO, Alivia Hayes of Crocker, MO, Haylyn Inman of Dixon, MO, Hayden Courtois of Richland, MO, Hunter Courtois of Richland, MO, Haleigh Courtois of Richland, MO, and Hadlie Inman of Richland, MO; one brother: Chris Hayes (Veronica) of the State of Texas; sister-in-law: Brenda Rothbauer (Rob) of Waynesville, MO; brother-in-law: Clay Clark of Crocker, MO; several nieces, nephews to include Justin Neuman (Melissa) of Crocker, MO, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers: Joe and Mic Hayes; and one sister: Rosie Hayes. Even though he is gone from our sight, Jim’s commitment to family and his fun-loving and carefree spirit will live on in our hearts forever. Celebration of Life services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2024 in the Memorial Chapel of Waynesville, Missouri with Charles Worstell officiating. Several friends and family members recalled their wonderful memories of Jim. The songs "Pink Skies" by Zach Bryan, "When I Get Where I'm Going" by Brad Paisley & Dolly Parton, and "Wish Grandpas Never Died" by Riley Green were played. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jim Hayes and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
