Lois Evelyn Greer

Lois Evelyn Greer was born on September 5, 1943, in Sunnyview, Laclede County, Missouri, the daughter of William Jacob Starnes and Rosa Neoma (Bingham) Starnes. As one of ten siblings, Lois spent her childhood in Brownfield, Missouri, attending schools in Oakland and Lebanon. From a young age, Lois developed a strong work ethic. She began her career as a waitress in both Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. Later, upon returning to Missouri, she managed the Dollar General store in Lebanon for seven and a half years. After leaving Dollar General, Lois worked as a housekeeper for individuals in the Lebanon area, consistently taking pride in her work. Lois found joy in dancing and music, particularly attending singings. She cherished time outdoors, tending to her garden and cultivating flower beds. Always in search of a bargain, Lois enjoyed visiting yard sales, thrift shops, and junk stores, always hoping to discover a hidden treasure. On March 23, 2010, Lois married Cecil Jennings Greer in Laquey, Missouri. Together, they shared fifteen years and built many lasting memories. Lois’s faith was a significant part of her life: she professed her beliefs early and became a member of the Sleeper Pentecostal Church in Sleeper, Missouri, later attending the Idumea Baptist Church in Laquey, Missouri. Lois passed away on August 6, 2025, at Lake Health Systems in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of 81. She is fondly remembered by family and friends for her warmth, dedication, and spirit. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband: Cecil Greer of Lebanon, MO; two children: Wade Doublin (Deloris) of Lebanon, MO and Melissa Peterson (Ronnie) of Stoutland, MO; two step-children: Melody Yankee (Scott) of St. Peters, MO and Amanda Crider (Scott) of St. Robert, MO; seven grandchildren: Richelle, Dallas, Ashleigh, Stephanie, Joey, Jake, and Marriah; four step-grandchildren: Nathan, Morgan, Shelby, and Amber; nine great grandchildren: Riggs, Gemma, Bryson, Jobe, Grayson, Ryan, Cade, Rory, and Declan; two step-great grandchildren; one brother: Larry Starnes (Kathy) of Lebanon, MO; one sister: Linda Ross (Chuck) of Lebanon, MO; several other relatives and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Evelyn “Marlene”; stepdaughter, Melissa “Missy”; and seven siblings: Leland Starnes, Bobby Starnes, Rex Starnes, Darrell Starnes, Doris Starnes, Wayne Starnes, and Opal Lillard. Even though she is no longer with us, Lois’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2025 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Pastor Danny Graves officiating. The songs "Coat of Many Colors" by Dolly Parton, "I Want to Stroll Over Heaven with You" by Alan Jackson, and "One Day at a Time" by Cristy Lane were played. Interment was held in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery of Waynesville. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
