Myrtle Mae Roberts

Myrtle Mae Roberts, daughter of the late Coda C Colley and Ola Mae (Loyd) Colley, was born February 15, 1940, in Hatfield, Arkansas. She attended school in Cove, Acorn, and Hatfield, graduating from Hatfield High School in 1957. On May 16, 1957, in Hatfield, Arkansas, Myrtle was united in marriage to Billie Dan Adkison. The couple settled into the little community of Richland in 1997. They shared over 53 years of marriage and were blessed with two wonderful children: Dee Ann and Dan before his passing on July 21, 2010. Myrtle loved the Lord with all her heart in at age seven ask Jesus into her heart while attending Vacation Bible School in Hatfield and later followed in baptism. Through her faithful acts of service, reading of the scriptures from her Bible, working in the A.W.A.N.A program, substitute teaching, preparing meals, or just loving on God’s people with her acts of kindness which came straight from Myrtle’s heart. She’s been a deeply loved member at First Baptist Church when she, and her late husband, Billie Dan joined their beloved church family in 1997. During Myrtle’s life she was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and friend. She enjoyed taking great care of her family and home paying attention to every detail while also working at the school cafeteria in Bellevue, NE, as a cook for fifteen years. In her spare time Myrtle enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, reading, playing computer games. She loved flowers growing, watching, and listening to the sounds of Bluebirds, Cardnials, and Hummingbirds. Myrtle served on the Richland Housing Board and was a member of the local TOPPS club. God kept His blessings coming for Myrtle when one day a dear old friend of the family, Orville J. Roberts asked her to marry him. Myrtle, thinking she’d never marry again, and after a few dates…said yes! And on October 1, 2016, with family and friends gathered, Myrtle and Orville married in the sight of God at the Warren Senior Center in Richland. Myrtle and Orville both receiving “bonus” children, grands, and great grandkids, all making life richer and deeper for the happy couple in their golden years. Myrtle left her earthly home in Richland to live forever in Heaven with the God she served on the quiet, peaceful morning of Wednesday, April 22, 2026, surrounded by the ones she loved having attained the age of 86. Those in Heaven waiting to greet her again are her parents, Coda and Ola, first husband, Billie Dan Adkison, eight brothers and sisters, Geneva, Delcie, Florence, Genola, Oscar, Calvin, Vernon, and Minnie. Myrtle leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Orville Roberts of the home; two children, Dee Ann King (Todd), Loveland, CO, and Dan Adkison (Deb), of Davenport, IA; two bonus children, Beth Scantlin and Neal Roberts both of Richland, MO; three grandchildren, Matthew King (Christina), David King (Jocelyn), and Morgan Erickson (Ben); five bonus grandchildren, Jeremy, Andrew, Jamie, Holly, and Hilary; 2 great- grandchildren, Brinley and Hannah; 5 bonus great-grandchildren, Haley, Kadie, Emily, Jaxon, and Keaton; one brother, Freeman Colley (Linda) of the state of Arkansas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Myrtle let her light shine wherever she went. She was loving, humble and kind, a beautiful woman inside and out. A virtuous woman. A woman who walked quietly throughout life but yet leaving her mark here on earth for all to see. She is a woman of God who will forever be missed and loved until we see her again. Services were held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2026 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Pastor Bob Lilly officiating. Favorite songs played included, “On the Wings of A Dove” and “You Lift Me Up.” Serving as escorts were Dan Adkison, David King, Matthew King, Todd King and Ben Erickson. Burial followed in the Center Point Cemetery near Richland, MO. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. Memorials may be made to the Warren Senior Center or to the Center Point Cemetery in memory of Myrtle Roberts and may be left at the funeral home.
