Richard "Rick" Alvin York

Richard “Rick” Alvin York, son of the late Alvin Dallas and Lela Pearl (Hill) York, was born June 24, 1948 in Garden Grove, California. He passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 in his home having attained the age of seventy years. Rick grew up in the Richland area and graduated from high school. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army Reserve from 1968 - 1974. On June 6, 1969, he was united in marriage to Lynne Joetta Carter in Laquey, Missouri. They shared over forty-eight years of marriage together and were blessed with two daughters: Karen and Kim. Rick was a hardworking man and took great pride in providing for his family. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction and excavating business. In his spare time, Rick enjoyed being outdoors while fishing. He was very talented when it came to making things with his hands. He played the banjo and also worked with leather. He was a member of the Richland Masonic Lodge #385 AF & AM and the Waynesville / Ft. Wood Shrine Club. At a young age, Rick made a profession of faith and was a member of the Idumea Baptist Church of Laquey. Rick loved his family and looked forward to every family gathering. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him. Rick leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Lynne J. York of the home; two children: Karen Click (Danny) of Laquey, MO and Kim York of Laquey, MO; four grandchildren: Brandon Click (Winter) of Marshfield, MO, Brittni Click, Zoey Jeffries and Myla Jeffries, all of Laquey, MO; one great grandchild: Elias Blankenship of Laquey, MO; one sister: Debbie Parson (Al) of Laquey, MO; sister-in-law: Kay York of Waynesville; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Even though he is gone from our sight, his memory will live on in our hearts forever. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 in the Idumea Baptist Church of Laquey, Missouri with Pastor Danny Graves and Bro. Gary Humphrey officiating. Gary and Peggy Humphrey sang “Go Rest High on that Mountain” and “Look For Me, For I Will Be There Too”. Serving as escorts were Danny Click, Brandon Click, Brad York, Vincent Boggs, Jeremiah Nickles and Joshua Nickles. Serving as honorary escorts were Lyndal York, Dallas York, Sonny York, Mac McKinnon, Gary Humphrey and Willie Miller. Burial followed in the Idumea Cemetery of Laquey, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rick York to the Idumea Cemetery Fund and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
