Steven "Steve" Perry Westphall

Steven Perry “Steve” Westphall, the son of Gerald Bernard Westphall and Judith Katherine (Stilling) Westphall, was born on September 23, 1966, in National City, California. He spent his childhood in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, where he attended and graduated from high school. Steve began his journey in the medical field while living in Fort Atkinson, becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and working at an assisted living residence. After moving to Missouri in 2004, Steve continued working in healthcare. He went back to school and earned his LPN degree from Waynesville Career Center and worked at Phelps County Regional Medical Center. He later took a position as a school nurse for the Waynesville R-VI School District, dedicating ten years to the district before transitioning to private duty nursing. On August 7, 2004, Steve married Stephanie Jane Klaesner in Hazelwood, Missouri. Together, they shared more than 21 years of marriage, creating many cherished memories. Steve and Stephanie were blessed with three children: Ella, Henry, and Jackson, who joined Steve’s two children from a previous relationship, Danielle and Nick. Steve loved the outdoors and enjoyed activities such as golfing, hiking, canoeing, swimming, and relaxing in the hot tub. As a lifelong Cheesehead, he proudly followed the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. In his free time, Steve's greatest passion was chasing that little white ball across the greens. Steve also appreciated playing card games like Cribbage, Pinochle, and Sheepshead with friends and family, and the family often spent time traveling together. He deeply loved his family and treasured every moment they spent together. Steve was outgoing and never met a stranger. Once you met him, you were a friend for life. He made many friends through his 37 years of being a member of Narcotics Anonymous. He mentored many others in the program personally and virtually. Steve passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the University Health System of Columbia, Missouri, at the age of 59. He is mourned and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Westphall, Jr.; his father-in-law, Henry John Klaesner; and his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Schroeder. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Stephanie Westphall, of the home; his parents, Jerry and Judy Westphall of Fort Atkinson, WI; five children: Danielle Westphall and Nick Westphall of Madison, WI, Ella Westphall, Henry Westphall, and Jackson Westphall of Waynesville, MO; two brothers: Rick Westphall (Donna Burnett) of Madison, WI, and David Westphall (Nancy) of Clarksville, TN; one sister: Suzanne Hendrickson of Fort Atkinson, WI; his mother-in-law, Dolores Klaesner of St. Charles, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Joe Klaesner (Laurie) of Creve Coeur, MO; sister and brother-in-law, Madonna Link (Chris) of St. Charles, MO; brother-in-law: Daniel Schroeder; as well as many other relatives and friends. Although Steve is no longer with us, his generous spirit and loving heart will remain in the hearts of those who knew him forever. Steve's final act was his greatest gift to others. Following his wishes, his liver, kidneys, heart valves, corneas, skin, bone, blood vessels, and other tissues were donated to many grateful recipients. Although Steve no longer lives, many others have promising futures because of him. Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2026, in the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church of St. Robert, Missouri with Father Michael Murphy officiating. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Steve Westphall and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
