Tammie Lee Cooley

Tammie Lee Cooley, the daughter of Bing Edward Morrison and Ellen Gail (Luther) Byles, was born on June 16, 1960, in Wayne, Michigan. She spent her formative years in Belleville, Michigan, where she grew up and graduated from high school. After moving to the Plato, Missouri area, Tammie married Douglas James Cooley on September 28, 1995. Together, they enjoyed more than 30 years of marriage and were blessed with three children: Sarah, Jennifer, and Douglas. Tammie continued her education by attending college and dedicating several years of service to the court system. She was known for her commitment and professionalism throughout her career. In her free time, Tammie cherished being outdoors, especially enjoying 4x4 rides and fishing. She possessed a remarkable talent for sewing and crocheting and often demonstrated her creativity through these crafts. Tammie also loved cooking, particularly for family gatherings, and took great joy in caring for her dogs. Tammie deeply loved her family and treasured every moment spent together, whether at home, at the creek, or embarking on an adventure. On Friday, January 30, 2026, Tammie passed away at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of 65. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved her. Tammie is survived by her husband, Major Douglas Cooley of Plato, MO; her three children, Sarah Shockley (Christopher) of Waynesville, MO, Jennifer Evans (Josh) of Plato, MO, and Douglas Cooley II (Alyssa) of West Plains, MO. She leaves behind eight grandchildren: Meghyn Shockley, Alexis Fullington, Myah Shockley, David Fullington, Jr., Maysn Shockley, Kaitlyn Evans, Joshua Evans, Jr., and Kizzie Lee Cooley; eight great-grandchildren; her mother, Ellen Byles of Michigan; a brother, Bobby Byles (Lucel) of Michigan; a sister, Patti Howe (Don) of Michigan; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Bing Edward Morrison, and one brother, Bing Morrison. Although she is no longer with us, Tammie’s love for her family continues to live on in our hearts forever. Funeral services were held at 12 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2026, in Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert with Pastor Stephen Dulaney officiating. The songs "Blessed Assurance" by Alan Jackson, "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me, "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" by Alan Jackson, and "Be Okay" by Lauren Daigle were played. Serving as escorts were Bobby Byles, Josh Evans, Douglas Cooley II, Joshua Evans, Jr., Chris Shockley, David Fullington, Jr., Don Howe, and Robert Carter, Sr. Burial followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville, Missouri, with services under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial Contributions in memory of Tammie Cooley may be made, and contributions may be left at Memorial Chapel.
