Udora Fields

Udora Fields, daughter of Flavil Reddick and Rosetta (Shubert) Via, was born November 17, 1959, in Steele, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, January 4, 2013, in the University of Alabama Hospital, in Birmingham, Alabama, at the age of fifty-three years, one month and eighteen days. On April 2, 1980, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Bobby Joe Fields, and to this union two daughters and a son were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, the late Joe and Robert Via. Dora is survived by her husband, Bob Fields of the home in Bethpage, TN; three children, January Monique McKinney and husband Brad, of Marion, KY, Amber Roseann Fields of Dixon, MO, and Robert Joseph Fields of Bethpage, TN.; three grandchildren, Autumn Ray and Abel Jay McKinney, and Hunter Logan Burnett; two brothers, Jack Via of Florissant, MO and Mack Via of Paragould, AR; three nieces; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She was born near Steele, MO and grew up in the Poplar Bluff area where she attended school. After she and Bob were married they continued to make Poplar Bluff their home and lovingly raised their family. Later they moved to the Waynesville /St. Robert area for several years and in 2008 moved to Bethpage, TN. Dora had professed her faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. While in Poplar Bluff she was a member of the 3rd Baptist Church there. Over the years she was a homemaker and had also worked as a waitress. She centered her life around her family, who she loved dearly. Her grandchildren were very special to her and always made her smile. She had a huge loving heart, a sweet personality and never met a stranger. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling over the United States and work in her garden, growing beautiful flowers. Dora was a devoted and loving wife, a cherished mother and grandmother; and a treasured sister, aunt and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her. We celebrate her life and the memories she created for her family and friends and will live on in our hearts forever. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Rev. Christopher Hendrix officiating. The songs “Amazing Grace”, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” were played.
