Wanda Sue Warren

Wanda Sue Warren daughter of the late Willie Brookes Watson and Eula Mae (Howell) Watson was born on March 1, 1945, in Waynesville, Missouri. Wanda grew up in Richland, where she attended school, graduating from RHS in 1964. She then went on to the Lebanon School of Cosmetology, graduating there in 1965. Wanda later decided to become a physical therapy assistant. She worked for many years and enjoyed helping the people she came into contact with each day. In her later years, Wanda went on to become a reporter for the Camden County Missouri Farm Service Office and with the Weather Information Farm Service Agency. She met Robert Lee Warren, Jr., and the two married on August 24, 1982, in Richland, Missouri. Wanda and “Bob” built their lives upon the love they shared for each other and their family. Farming together was a bonus as they lived life to the fullest for the next forty- one years. Wanda made a profession of faith as a young girl. She was baptized in September of 1957, and became a member of Independence Baptist Church near Richland, Missouri. Her faith in God, great love for her husband, her family, friends, and farming were profoundly important to Wanda. She loved taking care of her home, farm, and family. Wanda especially took pride in her cattle; to which she was able to handfeed each one. For seventeen years Wanda also enjoyed taxidermy work and was so proud when she received a letter from former Governor, Joseph P. Teasdale, for the smallmouth bass she mounted for him that hung in his private office. Wanda also found time for her sewing, gardening, water skiing (even though she was afraid of water) and being the serious fisherman that she was even receiving the Master Angler Award! Surrounded by her loving family, Wanda went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Saturday, October 14, 2023, having attained the age of seventy-eight. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted husband, Robert Lee Warren, Jr. of the home; three daughters, Lydia Ann Hees (Duane) of Eldon, MO, Christina Sue Brown (Jason) of Stoutland, MO, and Heather Elaine Warren of Huntington, WV; four grandchildren, Jacob Hees (Lori) of Kaiser, MO, Lindsay Hees (special friend Anthony Brown) from Eldon, MO, Casey Clark (Justin) of Richland, MO, and Michael Forrest Barcus, Jr. of Huntington, WV; six great-grandchildren, Weston Holtmeyer, Brinlee Hees, Madison Horton, Maverick Hees, Gunner Henson, and Evrhet Clark; special friends, Luke, Charlotte, Hunter, and Jacob Waters; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Wanda, a lover of life and the people in it. If you ever had the privilege to cross Wanda’s path, you would know that she had never met a stranger. She loved her family and was a deeply devoted wife, mother, proud grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and neighbor. Wanda was and will be forever a treasure in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Chaplain, Jeremy Caudel officiating. Speaker, Lydia Hees shared a touching poem entitled, “Mother Has Fallen Asleep.” Chaplain Caudel sang, “In the Garden,” and a recording of the song “Amazing Grace” was played. Serving as escorts were Luke Waters, Allen Smith, Jacob Hees, Keith Watson, Eric Smith, Kent Watson, and Mac Myers. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery of Richland. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. Contributions in memory of Wanda Sue Warren can be made to the Richland FFA, and can be made and left at the funeral home.
