MSG (Ret) Albert Lee Beatty

November 7, 1937 - June 25, 2016

Albert Lee Beatty, son of the late Chester Charles and Anna Rose (Faulkner) Beatty, was born November 7, 1937 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He grew up in Hudson, Iowa and graduated from high school. Shortly after graduating, Albert entered the United States Army and served his country faithfully until his retirement in 1983. He served his country for 27 years and retired as a Master Sergeant. He earned several awards and commendations; some of which include: the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Expert Qualification Badge M16 and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation w/Palm. Albert served in Germany, two tours in Vietnam, Alaska, Korea and stateside at several locations including Fort Leonard Wood. On June 6, 1959, Albert was united in marriage to Carolyn Joyce Borwig in Waterloo, Iowa. They shared over 57 years of marriage together and were blessed with three children: Vicki, Jenni and Matt. After retiring from the military, Albert worked for Penn Enterprises as a project manager while living in Kansas and after relocating to Fort Leonard Wood, he worked at the Post Laundry. In his spare time, Albert enjoyed being outdoors while fishing. He was very creative and liked to do woodworking projects. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Albert passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 in the Life Care Center of Waynesville having attained the age of 78 years, 7 months and 18 days. Albert is survived by his wife Carolyn Beatty of Waynesville, MO; three children: Victoria Moody, Jennifer Jones and Matthew Beatty; one sister: Margie Parker of the state of Washington; two brothers: Dean and Melvin Beatty both of Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by three brothers: Ivan, Harry and Edward. Graveside services with military honors were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 30, 2016 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville with Chaplain James Steelman officiating. Serving as escorts were Jeffery Jones, Drew Jones, Travis Jones, Tori Moss, Samantha Jones, Noah Jones, Joseph Moody and Zachary Moody. Serving as honorary escorts were Jayson Moody, Tyler Moody and Todd Borwig. Military honors were provided by the United States Army of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Albert Beatty and may be left at the funeral home.
