Alice Lorene Fowler

Alice Lorene Fowler was born October 27, 1931 in Montreal, Missouri, to Thomas William and Naomi (McDaniel) Frisbee. Alice grew up in Montreal and graduated from Camdenton High School in 1949. Alice married Robert Lee “Bob” Fowler, her classmate and neighbor, on February 18, 1951, in Richland, Missouri, and God blessed this union with two wonderful children, Janet and Michael. Together they shared a lot of love and laughter throughout their 65 years together before Bob’s passing on December 23, 2016. Alice worked at Ozark Fisheries in Stoutland, later going on to work at Fort Leonard Wood as an accountant for nearly thirty-five years, before retiring on November 1, 1987. After retiring, Alice kept very busy babysitting for all her grandsons, whom she loved and adored. At a young age, Alice accepted Christ and lived her life in humble service to her Lord. She was a longtime, faithful member of First Baptist Church of Richland, serving in the church nursery, as the church librarian, and assistant Sunday School superintendent. She was also active in WMU and Bible School and was a faithful Deacon’s wife. Alice greatly enjoyed taking care of her home and family, however, she especially found joy in hand piecing beautiful quilts for her children, her grandsons, friends, and for hospice. Alice was a member of the Richland Peaceful Quilters Guild; while there she enjoyed fellowship with her many friends and neighbors. In addition to quilting, Alice was an excellent seamstress. Nothing was beyond her ability, whether it be clothes, costumes, or craft projects. She also knitted, crocheted, embroidered, and cross stitched. She could do it all. Alice was also the ultimate hostess, opening her home and table to many throughout her life. There was nothing she couldn’t cook, and wonderful memories were made around the table, enjoying her delicious meals. On the evening of Sunday, July 7, 2019, while in the Richland Care Center, surrounded by her loving family, Alice was peacefully escorted to her heavenly home to begin her eternal life with her Heavenly Father, having attained the age of 87 years. Alice leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter, Janet Walker (Todd) of Richland, MO; one son, Michael Fowler (Debbie) of Richland, MO; four grandsons, Casey Fowler (Cassie) of Pass Christian, MS, Alexander Fowler (Tember) of Nixa, MO, Austin Walker of Columbia, MO and Cameron Walker of Richland, MO; one great grandson, Camden Fowler; two sisters, Ruth Fowler of Jenks, OK and Clarice Payne (Gerald) of Richland, MO; one brother, Paul Frisbee (Jenny) of Jeffersonville, IN; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Naomi, her beloved husband, Bob, one brother, Vance Carlos Patterson and two sisters, Violet Fern Marshall and Susie Marie Harper. Who can find a virtuous woman? Look no further, she lived among us…and her name was, “Miss Alice!” We all will remember Alice for many reasons… maybe for you it was her Christian walk or her heart of gold. Maybe it was her talent for making those beautiful quilts, her witty sense of humor, or her kind smile and gentle way. Whatever it was for you…Miss Alice exemplified the essence of a true lady of grace, and Heaven just got a whole lot sweeter when Alice received her promotion to glory and walked into the presence of her Lord as He welcomed her home! Services were held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 11, 2019 in the First Baptist Church of Richland with Pastor’s Mark Tallant and Matt Brady officiating. The song, “How Great Thou Art” was played by trumpeter; Austin Walker and was accompanied by his mother and pianist, Janet Walker; soloist, Vivian King sang, “It Is Well with My Soul,” and soloist, Josh Chism performed, “I Can Only Imagine.” Pianist Marleen Brown played prelude and postlude music. Serving as escorts were Jim Fowler, Paul Haechrel, Jerry and Blake Payne, Tim Hardesty and Tyler Roam. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery of Richland, MO. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Alice Fowler to the First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund or to the Richland Care Center and may be left at the Memorial Chapel of Richland.
