Anna Irene Harris

July 3, 1933 - September 25, 2014

Anna Irene (Gill) Harris, daughter of the late Elijah and Jessie Irene (Newell) Gill, was born July 3, 1933, in Richland, Missouri, where she grew up and attended school at a little country school. Anna met David Scott Harris, a handsome Army soldier. They fell in love, and on February 18, 1968 were married in Richland, Missouri, where the happy couple made their home and were later blessed with two precious children, Darlene and Kevin. Anna worked at H.D. Lee for approximately 35 years. However, her life was centered on raising her family and taking care of her home. She was very proud of them and treasured the special times that they spent together, especially enjoying her grandchildren. Anna’s hobbies included taking care of her flowers, fishing, crafts, making jewelry, quilting and handwork. Anna quietly passed on the evening of Thursday, September 26, 2014, at the age of 81 years. She was affectionately called “The Rock” by her family. Though she is gone from our sight for only a little while, she’ll live on in our hearts forever, as we treasure the memories made. Anna leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, David, of the home; two children, Darlene Fisher, of Richland, MO and Kevin Harris, of Richland, MO; four grandchildren, Loretta Rhoades, Keith Joiner both of Richland, MO and Taylor Harris and Carson Harris both of Lebanon, MO; four great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a brother, Clyde Gill, of Osceola, MO; and a number of nieces and nephews. Anna is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Emma Thornsberry. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 29, 2014 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Rev. Christopher Hendrix officiating. Favorite recorded music selections included "Amazing Grace" and "Sweet Hour of Prayer." Serving as pallbearers were family and friends. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery of Richland. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. Online condolences can be sent at www.memorialchapelsandcrematory.com
