They shared over 73 wonderful years together and were blessed with two precious daughters, before his passing on December 9, 2013. In the forties, Berneice worked in the munitions plant in St. Louis during World War II and volunteered for the Red Cross. After moving back into the small community of Richland, Berneice began her secretarial career for Richland R-IV School as the secretary for several years. Berneice enjoyed her job, and especially loved the children she’d see daily. She went on to work at the Toledo Goldfish Company as Harold Aspen’s secretary. At an early age, Berneice made a profession of faith and followed in baptism. She loved her Lord with all her heart, as well as, her beloved church family. Berneice played the piano, she taught Sunday School and Bible School, and loved teaching the children about Jesus; Berneice even worked with them to perform in the annual Eureka Baptist Church Christmas pageant. In her spare time, Berneice enjoyed playing her piano, spending time with her friends at the garden club, they took pride in maintaining Richland’s flower beds. Berneice enjoyed being outside in her own yard tending to her many flower gardens. In the sixties, Berneice also served on the Richland Sr. Housing Board from its inception; she went on to serve on the Missouri Easter Seals Board of Directors, a Richland School Board member, BPW Club, and the Garden Club Director in 1981. Berneice went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 17, 2019 in her home. All those who had the pleasure of knowing her will cherish the many wonderful memories made with her. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Milford, their precious daughter, Carolyn Anne Brackett, and one brother, Pryor Ray Prewett. Berneice leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter: Julia Anne Alexander, and husband Robert of Cocoa Beach, FL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A very special thank you, goes out to, Compassus Hospice, and Berneice’s “special care angels,” Sandy Kelley, Gail (Bench) Knight, Delores Cochran, Susan Ogle, Katy Lane, and numerous other wonderful folks who have been at Berneice’s side for the past several years.
