Brian Keith Hunnicutt

July 26, 1966 - November 15, 2014

Brian “Keith” Hunnicutt, son of MSG (Ret) David Larry and Freda Louise (Stiles) Hunnicutt, was born July 26, 1966 in Brevard, North Carolina. Due to David, Keith’s dad, being in the military, the family left North Carolina when Keith was five years of age. They lived in several different places, including Germany. The family moved back to the states and Keith graduated from North Harden High School in Radcliff, Kentucky. Keith furthered his education by attending Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky and Southwest Missouri State University of Springfield, Missouri. Keith entered the United States Marine Corp and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge. He served during Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf and for his faithful service earned several awards and commendations; some of which included: Rifle Expert Badge, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon w/1 Star, Pistol Expert Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Certificate of Appreciation, Arctic Service Ribbon, and the National Defense Service Medal. He had attained the rank of Corporal. Keith lived in Kansas City, Missouri for a while, and then came to Waynesville 2008. Keith loved the Ozarks. He loved to fish, kayak and canoe the Gasconade and Roubidoux. He enjoyed reading and was a history buff. He was also a writer and wrote several articles for the Daily Guide’s new column (2012), Pulaski County Outdoorsman. Keith passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 in his home having attained the age of 48 years, 3 months and 20 days. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Keith leaves to cherish his memory his parents: David and Freda Hunnicutt of St. Robert, MO; girlfriend: Denise Miller; other relatives and friends. Keith was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: William L. and Annie Jean Hunnicutt; maternal grandparents: Harry E and Ella Mae Fowler Stiles; and two uncles: CPL Verrell D. Stiles (killed in Viet Nam) and Charles Roger Hunnicutt. Graveside services with military honors were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery - Fort Leonard Wood with Chaplain (LT) Jin Choi (USMC) officiating. Serving as escorts were family and friends. Military honors were provided by the Missouri Honors Team and the United States Marine Corp of Fort Leonard Wood. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
