Brryman Alan Collier

Born Brryman Alan Collier in Madison, Wisconsin, on October 28, 1932, he spent most of his life as Alan Brryman Collier. Alan spent his childhood in Wisconsin, Southern California and Missouri. He spent nine years in the United States Military - three years plus three months in the U.S. Marine Corps (October 28, 1949 to January 30, 1953) and six years in the U.S. Air Force (November 1954 to September 1960). Before he was eighteen years of age, he was a veteran of a foreign war - the Korean War. He earned two battle stars on his Korean medal and has good conduct medals for both services plus three honorable discharges. He was a 40% service connected disabled veteran. Three of his sons (Alan B. Collier, Jr., Daniel Collier and Michael David Collier) were all honorable discharged veterans. He attained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management at Southwestern Missouri State University in the spring of 1978. He was a skilled machinist, a welder-mechanic and also skilled in accounting and management. During the 1980s, he worked as a Florida State Correctional Officer. He passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 in the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System of Waco, Texas having attained the age of 84 years. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville. Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Mr. Collier is survived by two sisters: Patricia E. Gammon and Jackie Humphreys; six children: Pam Parrish, Penny Roundtree, Alan B. Collier, Jr., Daniel Collier, Belinda Flaherty and Matthew Collier; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brryman Frederick Collier and Vergie Royal Robbins Collier; one brother: James Louis Collier; and one son: Michael David Collier.
