Carol Jean Bruns

July 8, 1936 - December 16, 2019

Carol Jean Bruns, daughter of the late Walter Robert and Florence Ethel (Cotten) Stringer, was born July 8, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri. On June 1, 1957, Carol was united in marriage to James David Bruns, Sr. They shared over 59 years of marriage together and three children: Jeff, Kathy and Jamie. Jim preceded Carol in death in September 2016. From 1965 – 1992, Carol served as a military spouse while Jim served as a Chaplain in the military. After Jim’s retirement from the military, Carol continued serving but in a different capacity…as a pastor’s wife. She worked along side her husband as he served as an Interim Pastor for several churches, mainly in Southeast Missouri. Carol and Jim were an influential team in affecting the lives of many through the years, sharing God’s love and truth. In her spare time, Carol enjoyed sewing, painting, photography, investing and cooking. She loved to be able to serve dinners for her family whenever they were able to get together. As a young girl, Carol had made a very important decision in her life and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba, Missouri. Carol was reunited with her husband, Jim and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday, December 16, 2019 in the Missouri Baptist Hospital of Sullivan, Missouri having attained the age of 83 years. Carol will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, her three children: Jeff Bruns (Jane) of St. Robert, MO, Kathy Bruns of Brandenburg, KY and Jamie Bruns (Linda) of Lee’s Summit, MO; nine grandchildren: Scott Bruns of Springfield, MO, Kathryn Clemons (Kody) of St. Louis, MO, Rebecca Stubblefield (Kristofer) of Miami, FL, Robert Bruns (Makenzie) of St. Louis, MO, David Bruns of Portland, OR, Brandon Bruns, Kristi Bruns and Adam Bruns, all of Lee’s Summit, MO and Jonathan Bruns of St. Louis, MO; two great grandchildren: Sawyer and Sadie Stubblefield of Miami, FL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:30 p.m., Friday December 20, 2019 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Private family burial will be held in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville. Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Carol Bruns and may be left at the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
