David Lewis Chandler

January 22, 1955 - January 24, 2022

David Lewis Chandler, son of the late John Antunes and Ruth (Hawley) Antunes, was born in Danbury, Connecticut during the winter of 1955 on January 22. In 1977, David moved to Florida where he found a home working for the City of Orlando and retired in 2017 after 38 years of faithful service to the city. Shortly after his retirement, David and Carol Hapanowich, the love of his life, moved to Missouri to be near their daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Dale Williams, and their two sons, John and James Williams. During his time in Florida, David and Carol spent much time geocaching. He loved to not only find them but create his own and place them for others to find. He also had a love for cycling and spent many years riding with the Florida Freewheelers. On January 24, 2022, at the age of 67, David passed away after his courageous battle with cancer. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, David fought his cancer with strength and grace and wanted to spend as much time with family as possible. On his final day, he was surrounded by the love of his life, Carol, his brother Art Antunes, and daughter Heather, who he adored more than anything in the world. David is survived by the love of his life: Carol Marie Hapanowich of Waynesville, MO; daughter: Heather Williams and husband Dale of Waynesville, MO; two grandsons: John and James Williams of Waynesville, MO; two brothers: Arthur Antunes (Judy) of Woodberry, CT and Michael Antunes of Crossville, TN; aunt: Helen Fiaschetti of Bedford, VA; several other extended family members and friends. The family will be holding a service at Greenwood Cemetery in Eustis, Florida on March 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with a celebration of life to follow at Trimble Park in Mt. Dora, Florida. Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of David Chandler and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
