Denise E. Alexander

April 10, 1934 - January 29, 2015

Denise E. Alexander, daughter of the late Birdwell and Lorna Bernice (Woods) Smock, was born April 10, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a young girl, Denise and her family moved to St. Louis where she grew up, attended school and attended mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Denise was united in marriage to Charles Alexander and they were blessed with three children, Minnie, Johnny and Will. Charles and Will, both preceded Denise in death. Denise took great pride in providing for her family and she worked hard. She worked as a housekeeper for Suzie Linen Company, Ramada Inn and for private individuals all in the St. Louis area. She also worked for a time for the Goodwill organization for a time. In her later years, Denise moved to Waynesville to be near her daughter. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her flower gardens and taking care of her cockatiel bird. She also enjoyed going to Branson and seeing the sights with her family, especially the grand and great grandchildren. Denise passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 in the Life Care Center of Waynesville having attained the age of 80 years, 9 months and 19 days. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. Denise leaves to cherish her memory, two children: Minnie Franklin of Waynesville, MO and Johnny Alexander and wife Michelle of St. Louis, MO; four siblings: Richard Smock of St. Louis, MO, Joseph Woods of St. Louis, MO, Charlie Woods and wife Margie of St. Louis, MO and Dorothy Reichenbaucher of Pacific, MO; nine grandchildren: Charles Franklin, Jr. (Megan Hamilton), Latoshia Webb (Derrick), William Alexander, Jr., Genever Alexander, Geneva Dawson (Vincent), Aaliyah Alexander, Jashawn Alexander, Jonathan Alexander, Kalisha Alexander; eight great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, husband and one son, Denise was preceded in death by one sister: Cathalene Gibson, two grandchildren and son-in-law, Charles Franklin. Graveside services were held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2015 in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery of Waynesville with Pastor Dan Biggs officiating. Serving as escorts were family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Denise Alexander and may be left at the funeral home.
