May 29, 1924 - March 8, 2015
Ena “Millie” Millicient Britt was born May 29, 1924 in Bath, England where she grew up and attended school. At the age of 22, Millie traveled to the United States by herself for the very first time. While she was in England she met the love of her life, Horace Columbus Britt, in 1943. They were married on February 3, 1944 and they were blessed with three boys and one girl. Unfortunately, she experienced the loss of two of these children - one baby boy and her only baby girl. In 1984, she experienced loss again when Horace preceded her in death. During her marriage she was a devoted wife to her husband. Due to Horace being in the United States military, Millie was able to travel with her husband to his different duty stations and always made a home everywhere she went. In April of 1963, Millie accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and because of her faith she was able to face hardships in her life knowing that Christ was with her every step of the way. Millie was a hardworking woman. She worked for over 22 years with the Swedeborg School System where she worked in the kitchen. She retired in September 2001. Millie enjoyed being outdoors while working in the garden and also collecting clocks. She loved writing her sister every week to give her updates of her life and on several occasions was able to travel to her home in England to visit family. Millie was able to stay at home and be a Nana full time. She loved taking care of her grandkids and spending time with them. Millie went home to be with her Lord Sunday, March 8, 2015 in the Life Care Center of Waynesville, Missouri having attained the age of 90 years. Millie leaves to cherish her memory two sons: Bill Britt of Swedeborg, Missouri and John Britt of Dixon, Missouri; three grandchildren: David Britt and wife Tracy of Lebanon, Missouri, Jerry Britt and wife Barbara of Richland, Missouri and Tracy Alderman and husband Bob of Jefferson City, Missouri; six great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
