Evelyn Eldora Revere 93-years old entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Olympic Medical Center, Los Angeles, California Olympic Medical surrounded by her loving son and friends. Evelyn was born in Buford, Georgia on December 15, 1922 to the late Eugene Eason and Evelyn Ivy. She was educated in the Buford County Public School System and was a graduate of Halifax County, North Carolina Tilley High School. Evelyn was a trail blazer in her time, she was one of the first four black women to be hired at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a welder. She served as the librarian and drove the first library truck in Tilley bringing books to black families and children who were not allowed access to the Library. Evelyn Revere was a World War II veteran of the Korean War, and a retired government employee of over 20 years from Fort Leonard Wood, General Leonard Army Community Hospital, serving in various positions in the Nursing Services. Evelyn was known for her selfless service and her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten. A women of faith Evelyn and a member of Greater Community Baptist Church, she shaped her family spirituality by her tireless Christian example, and while serving in various rolls, prayer groups and activities. She loved to dance, write, read, pray, play games – especially with her Grandchildren, chat with friends and family and travel…just to name a few. On July 28, 1951 Evelyn entered into a holy union with James Revere from Dayton, Ohio. Evelyn and James raised their 4 children, Sandra, Roger, Anna and Ronald over the years in St. Roberts, Missouri. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Revere, her son, Roger Revere, father, Eugene Revere, mother, Evelyn Revere; her brothers, Randolph Eason, Eugene Eason, Charles Eason and Robert Eason; and her sister Helen Parker. Her surviving family members left to cherish this compassionate, loving and courageous woman are her, two daughters, Sandra Harden, Anna Revere; her son Ronald Revere (Kimberly Hill); Grandchildren Rhonda Revere, Jacquelyn Joyce Revere, Carlisa Hines, Lawanna Rayford (Kerry Rayford Sr.), Jeraldlyn Austin; Great Grandchildren Catina McReynolds, Khiyana Rayford, Kerry Rayford Jr., Noey Watson (Patrick Watson); and Great Great Grand Children, QuiJana Marie Revere, Cain McReynolds, Allivia Harris, Jasmine Watson, Jaquan Watson; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews and devoted friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Greater Community Baptist Church St, Roberts, Missouri, Pastor Willie Thornton. Interment will be at the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Waynesville, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
