Homer Leo Gann, son of the late John William and Cordilia (Starnes) Gann, was born July 27, 1915 in Pulaski County, Missouri where he grew up and attended school. On October 29, 1938, Homer was united in marriage to the love of his life, Olive Irene Graves. They shared over 68 years of marriage together and were blessed with two sons: Larry and Mike. Irene preceded him in death on October 14, 2007. Homer and Irene moved their family to Independence, Missouri in 1952 and remained there until 1987, at which time they moved to Lincoln, Missouri. Shortly before Irene’s passing, Homer and Irene moved to Blue Springs, Missouri where he has remained. Early in life, Homer served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCCs) as a cook. After discharge he stayed in California working in various mines. He then returned home (1938) beginning his life long career becoming a master carpenter and builder. He became well known as a custom home builder for many established Doctors in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. Homer loved hunting and fishing and during retirement restored antique furniture and went to senior dances with Irene. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Homer passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 in the Shangri-La Care Center in Blue Springs, Missouri having attained the age of 100 years. Homer leaves to cherish his memory, his two sons: Larry Gann (Peggy) of Blue Springs MO and Mike Gann (Barbara) of Kingsville MO; four grandchildren: Laura Anderson (John) of Blue Springs MO, Larry Gann Jr. (Wendy) of Independence MO and Nick Gann of Kingsville MO and Jon Gann (Becca) of Boise ID; ten great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015 in the Memorial Chapel of Waynesville, Missouri with Rev. Danny Graves officiating. Soloist Charlas Bales sang “Peace in the Valley” and “Beulah Land”. Serving as escorts were family and friends. Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery of Waynesville.
