Irene Nina Threlkeld

December 31, 1959 - November 18, 2020

Irene Nina Threlkeld, daughter of the late Samuel Oren Threlkeld and Nina Ellen (Berry) Threlkeld, was born December 31, 1959 in Waynesville, Missouri. Irene grew up in Waynesville and graduated from Waynesville High School with the Class of 1978. She furthered her education and attended college. Irene was a hard worker. Over the years, she worked on Fort Leonard Wood and also for a time in accounting for the State Prison system. She spent close to 15 years at Walmart in St. Robert as a cashier. Her coworkers and customers became her extended family. There were several customers that would come through her line just to visit with her. In her spare time, Irene enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cooking. She also loved her family tremendously and enjoyed every time they could get together. Irene made a profession of faith and over the years attended Waynesville United Methodist Church, Grace Covenant, and most recently Stonebrooke Church of Waynesville. Irene passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020 in the St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, Missouri having attained the age of 60 years. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. Irene leaves to cherish her memory one daughter: Rhonda Threlkeld of Dixon, MO; one brother: Larry Threlkeld (Belinda) of Dixon, MO; one sister: Nancy Alkire (Ronnie) of Dixon, MO; three nieces: Ashley, Danelle, and Whitney Alkire; two grandchildren: Angelique and Nevaeh; several great nieces and nephews; and her Walmart family. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her grandmother: Eva Berry; aunt: Velma Hatfield; and Julia Godfrey. A Celebration of Life service was held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2021 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Pastor Mark Rowden officiating. The song “Goodnight Irene” was played. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Irene Threlkeld and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
