James Dean January

February 21, 1957 - January 6, 2021

James Dean January, son of Myron Ray January and Mary Armeda (Micheletti) January Kidd, was born February 21, 1957 in Aberdeen, Washington. As a young boy, the family moved to the Waynesville, Missouri area where he attended and graduated from high school. James entered the United States Army and served his country faithfully for 6 ½ years until his honorable discharge. He had attained the rank of Sergeant and earned several awards and commendations. After his discharge from the Army, James came back to the Waynesville area and worked as a tattoo artist at several local shops over the years until his health began to decline. In his spare time, James enjoyed American Indian culture. His passion was his artwork, caving, bird watching, nature walks, and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. James passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in his home having attained the age of 63 years. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. James leaves to cherish his memory, his fathers: Myron January of Converse, TX and Raymond Kidd of Waynesville, MO; two brothers: Thomas January of Laquey, MO and John January (Chaunte) of Bivins, TX; four sisters: Theresa Bennett (Steve) of Columbia, MO, Belinda Levett of Waynesville, MO, Armeda Gullett (Tommy) of Waynesville, MO, and Jamie January (Derek Grinell) of Adkins, TX; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. James was preceded in death by his mother: Mary Kidd; nephew: Andrew January; brother: Doug Kidd; brother-in-law: Jerry Levett; and his grandparents. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church of St. Robert with Father John Groner officiating. Music was provided by Evelyn Horine. Serving as escorts were Charles Connley, Steve Cox, Gary Warren, Mike Bollinger, Shawn Davis, and Thomas January. Serving as honorary escort was Tommy Gullett. Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery of Waynesville. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of James January and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
