Jim Lee Laughlin

January 8, 1927 - April 3, 2018

Jim Lee Laughlin, son of the late Roy and Jeretta Pearl (Helton) Laughlin, was born January 8, 1927 in Waynesville, Missouri where he grew up and graduated from high school. In 1956, Jim was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Sleiger. They shared over 61 years of marriage together and were blessed with one son, David. Jim was a Pulaski County native and spent his whole life here. He and his family raised cattle and he loved spending time on the farm. He enjoyed watching the cows in the field and also loved to ride horses. If you ever wanted to find Jim, you just needed to look outside because that is where he spent the majority of his time. Most importantly, he loved his family dearly and did anything he could for them. As a young boy, Jim made a profession of faith and was a member of the Mt. Gibson Baptist Church of Waynesville. Jim was also a member of the Waynesville / Ft. Wood Shrine Club. Jim passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in his home having attained the age of 91 years. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Jim leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary Laughlin of the home; one son: David Laughlin of Waynesville, MO; two grandchildren: Colton and Savanah Laughlin; four siblings: Maxine Hembree (Les) of San Francisco, CA, Louise Garzelli (Jack) of Waynesville, MO, Katherine Tarr of San Francisco, CA and Shirley Fornash of Columbia, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by one brother, Claude Laughlin. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2018 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Rev. Richard Breeden officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “Precious Memories”, “Amazing Grace” and “In the Garden”. Serving as escorts were David and Colton Laughlin, Paul and Matt Laughlin and Johnny and Joey Laughlin. Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jim Laughlin and may be left at the funeral home.
