May 12, 1955 - October 20, 2021
Katherine Sue DeMott was born May 12, 1955, to Junior Louis Luttrell and Stella “Maxine” (Henson) Luttrell, in Schlitz Mill of Pulaski County, Missouri. She went home to God in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 20, 2021, while in the Lake Regional Health Care System, Osage Beach Missouri, having attained the age of 66 years, 5 months, and 8 days. “Kathy” accepted the Lord as her Savior following in baptism on September 16, 1964, while attending Elm Grove Baptist Church near Richland, Missouri. The prayers and love Kathy received down through the years from her beloved church family meant the world to her. She grew up and attended school in Richland, graduating from RHS in 1973. Kathy married Dorsey Warren DeMott in Ben Town, on February 26, 1987, and shared over thirty-four years together before her passing. Kathy and D.W. lovingly raised Kathy’s baby daughter, Ella Christine, who let’s say, kept them on their toes, bringing loads love, and laughter into their happy home. Kathy believed in working hard to earn a good day’s wage. She was a sewer for H.D. Lee Jean Factory in Richland, MO for over twenty-six years. After its closing, she went on to work at DOWCO Marine, Lebanon, MO, and Rod Saver/Presion Cut in Richland, MO. She enjoyed playing piano, shopping with her sister, and playing with her Weiner dogs. Kathy loved her family and friends; however, she was especially proud of her grandchildren. She loved to spoil them and shower them with her love and affection. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Ella Henson, and paternal grandparents, Ruby and Joel Luttrell, her beloved parents, Junior, and Maxine Luttrell. Kathy is survived by her husband, D.W. DeMott of Richland, MO, one daughter, Ella Christine Hoy (Tim) of Stoutland, MO; three siblings: Richard Luttrell (Kathy) of Lebanon, MO, Gayla Phillips (Mike) of Preston, MO, and Timmy Luttrell (Kelley) of Richland, MO; 3 grandchildren: Clayton Hoy, Timothy “Peanut” Hoy, and Stella Hoy all of Stoutland, MO; 2 special cousins: Dorothy Kay Becker, and Shirley Steward, both of Richland, MO; Kathy’s life-long best friend, Shirley Profest; two adopted grandchildren: Austin Morris and Sabastian Marshall; her church family, and Kathy’s four legged friends, her Wiener dogs; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Though her time here on this earth was brief, Kathy lived life to its fullest, even with all the health challenges she coped with over the years, never letting them get her down. Her kind, loving heart, brought immense joy, and love to those around her. Kathy’s sweet, gentle disposition , and kind smile will always be fondly remembered. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2021, in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Pastor Bradley Jemes officiating. Favorite songs included “Scars in Heaven” and “I Can Only Imaging” by Mercy Me. Soloist, Chuck Boren sang, “Go Rest High On that Mountain.” Serving as escorts were Greg Moore, Greg Black, Matthew Black, Aaron Phillips, Matt Phillips, and Chad Luttrell. Honorary escorts were Jimmy Bench and Estel Becker. Burial followed in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Richland, MO. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. Memorial contributions are being accepted by Kathy’s family in her memory to either the Lupus, or Breast Cancer Foundations and may be left at the funeral home.
