Laffie Sibering Souser, daughter of the late Luther Braxton, Sr. and Leyas Anthony, was born June 14, 1943 in Natchitoches, Louisiana where she grew up and graduated from high school. Laffie was blessed with three children: Jesse, Cleveland, and Michael Burton. She loved them tremendously and took great pride in providing for them. Laffie and her family came to the Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri area and she worked as a cook for EDP for 25 years. During her time working on Fort Leonard Wood, she met a man by the name of Ernest Souser. They were united in marriage on October 10, 2002 in St. Robert, Missouri. They shared over 17 years of marriage together and many wonderful memories. Laffie was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of St. Robert, Missouri. She served in the church wherever she was needed and loved her church family immensely. In her spare time, Laffie enjoyed spending time with her dear friends, Marianne Cole, Linda Schonbok and Laura Miles. They would take trips to the casino or playing Bingo. Laffie loved people and every time you would see her, she would have a smile on her face, no matter what she was going through. Laffie went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in the Phelps Health Center of Rolla, Missouri having attained the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 26 days. Laffie will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons: Jesse Burton of St. Robert, MO and Cleveland Burton (Tonya) of St. Robert, MO; two stepsons: Ernest Souser of St. Robert, MO and Kevin Souser of the State of Hawaii; two stepdaughters: Sandy Souser of the state of California and Gena Souser of the State of Georgia; several grandchildren, and great grandchildren; one brother: Major Anthony (Debra) of Dallas, TX; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, Laffie was preceded in death by her son: Michael Burton (2000) and her husband: Ernest Souser (2020). Even though she is gone from our sight, her joyful spirit will live on in our hearts forever. Celebration of Life services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 in the First Baptist Church of St. Robert, Missouri with Pastor Terrance Golden and Pastor Willie Thornton officiating. Several friends and family members recalled their wonderful memories of Laffie. Serving as escorts were family and friends. Inurnment followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Laffie Souser and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
