Lila Mae Rice
November 15, 1934 - February 15, 2015
Lila Mae Rice, one of nine children born to the union of the late Robert William and Bertha Ellen (Walters) Phillips, was born November 15, 1934 in Waynesville, Missouri where she grew up and graduated in 1952 as valedictorian from Waynesville High School. She was united in marriage to Paul Rice and three children were born to this union: Paul Bradley, Teresa, and Robert. Lila worked thirty-eight years for Larry Salveter, CPA until her retirement. After her retirement, she was able to do things that she enjoyed. She loved being outdoors while enjoying birds in nature. She liked reading, doing crossword puzzles, going to shows, visiting with close friends and taking care of her dog Molly. At an early age, Lila found Christ and was baptized. She was a caring, loving and honest person who wanted to help. She was always more worried and concerned about others than herself. Lila passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015, in the Lake Regional Hospital of Osage Beach, Missouri having attained the age of 80 years and 3 months. Lila leaves to cherish her memory, her three children, Paul Bradley Rice (Mary) of Osage Beach, MO, Teresa Layman (Roger) of Waynesville, MO, Robert Rice (Tammy) of Waynesville, MO; four grandchildren, Andy Smith (Barbara), Rachel Roberts and fiancée, Justin, Tara Posluszny (Evan) and Travis Rice; her sister, Maxine Williamson (Marvin) of Springfield, MO; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of others relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Lila was preceded in death by three sisters: Florence Ida Gray, Marybelle Race and Lucille Harriell; and four brothers: Clifford, Wilmer, William and Leslie “Bo” Phillips. Memorial contributions can be made to “Paws” Animal Shelter, and contributions can be left at the funeral home.
