Linda Carol (Duncan) Storie

October 1, 1948 - February 29, 2016

Linda Carol (Duncan) Storie, daughter of the late Ronald J. and Louisa “Maxine” (Ellis) Duncan, was born October 1, 1948 in Springfield, Missouri. As a young girl, Linda grew up in the Blue Eye, Missouri area and in her sophomore year of high school, she moved to Waynesville where she graduated in 1966. After graduation, Linda attended Drury College and Southwest Missouri State (now known as Missouri State University) for her Master’s Degree from Drury College and then earned her specialist degree. She began teaching in the Laquey school district and retired in 2010. During that time, she served as elementary principal for 14 years. On January 17, 1976, Linda was united in marriage to Tracy Lee Storie and they shared over 40 years together and many wonderful memories. In her spare time, Linda enjoyed reading and she was an excellent cook and was semi-famous for her chocolate chip cookies. She liked to sew and especially making quilts. She was a member of the Lions Club, Car Cruisers, Book Club, Kappa Phi Delta, Kappa Kapa IOTA, Missouri State Teacher’s Association and CTA. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. As a young girl, Linda made a profession of faith in Christ and was baptized. She was a faithful member of the Faith Baptist Church of Waynesville. Linda went home to be with her Lord Monday, February 29, 2016 in the Life Care Center of Waynesville having attained the age of 67 years, 4 months and 28 days. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. Linda leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Tracy Storie of Waynesville, MO; four children: Kenneth Harley Storie (Jennifer) of Ellisville, MO, Jonathan Paul Storie (Casey) of Waynesville, MO, Timothy Brian Wilkerson (Tamma) of Greenbriar, AR, and Terri Lynn Skidmore (Mauro) of Waynesville, MO; one sister: Peggy Jo Grosvenor of Laquey, MO; one brother: Ronald J. Duncan of Hot Springs, AR; 10 grandchildren: Kayla, Britney, Maura, Malaya, Makenzie, Mason, Harley, Bain, Kole and Addison; 5 great grandchildren: Mariahlyn, Connor, Blake, Mason, and Myles; several other relatives and many friends. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016 in the Faith Baptist Church of Waynesville with Pastor Mike Curtis officiating. The song “Midnight Cry” by Gold City was played. Soloist Carl Norman sang “Fear Not Tomorrow” and soloist Gilbert Crismon sang “Beulah Land” and “Just a Closer Walk with Thee”. Family friend, Phil Todd read the obituary. Serving as escorts were Linda’s nephews and serving as honorary escorts were the deacons of Faith Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Colley Hollow Cemetery near Waynesville. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Linda Storie to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
