Lucy Jane Gollahon, daughter of the late Howard and Alpha Rae (Laxton) Snodgrass, was born October 30, 1921 in Centerville, Missouri. On January 25, 1947, Lucy was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Lee Gollahon in Kansas City, Kansas. They shared over 59 years of marriage together and were blessed with two children, Daniel and Roxanne. Bob preceded Lucy in death on July 30, 2006. Lucy became a licensed beautician and ran her own business for many years. She formed many great friendships during her time as a beautician. Lucy sold real estate for Farnham Realty for a time before managing the barber/beauty shops on Fort Leonard Wood for several years. After retiring, Lucy and Bob spent 12 years at Boys Town of Missouri. According to Lucy and Bob, those years were the most rewarding part of their lives. Lucy was a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rolla Chapter 176. In her later years, Lucy made a profession of faith and was baptized by Danny Graves and became a member of the Idumea Baptist Church of Laquey, where she attended faithfully until she moved to Rolla after Bob’s passing. In her spare time, Lucy loved to winter in Lorida, Florida with Bob and they would go fishing on Lake Istokpoga and Lake Okeechobee. She also enjoyed baking, making jelly and sewing quilts for her family and friends, and was an avid collector of glass slippers. She was an avid card player and loved to challenge her family to a game of cards. In fact, for many years Lucy would host a playing card party at her house for family and friends. Lucy loved her family tremendously and always enjoyed spending time with them, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. While the grandchildren were growing up, you would find her at most of their ballgames. Lucy went home to be with her Lord Sunday, July 21, 2019 in the Silverstone Place of Rolla, Missouri having attained the age of 97 years, 8 months and 22 days. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved her.
