Nancy Ann Prather

September 25, 1947 - August 11, 2015

Nancy Ann Prather, daughter of Otto Francis and Vera Lee (Robertson) Moore, was born September 25, 1947 in Indianola, Iowa. She went home to be with her Lord at 8:34 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in her home having attained the age of 67 years. At the age of 4, Nancy began attending a country school near Prairie City, Iowa. She began attending school in Story City and graduated from Story City Community School. While attending school, Nancy played on the softball team and enjoyed playing catcher. Shortly after graduation, Nancy took an 8 week course to work as a Certified Nurse’s Aide. After completing the course, she began working at Mary Greeley Hospital (1966-1974) and Med Aide at DMACC in Ankeny, Iowa. From 1983-1996, Nancy worked at the Colo-Nesco Community School as cook and head cook. Also during that time she worked part time at Story County Nursing Home in Nevada. In 1996, she became a full time Nurse’s Aide and med aid and served until her retirement in 2003. On December 7, 1968, Nancy was united in marriage to Elbert Eugene Prather in Skidmore, Missouri. They shared over 46 years of marriage together and were blessed with three children: Thomas, Lonnie and Arthena. In her spare time, Nancy enjoyed being outdoors while fishing and gardening. She was also very talented with sewing and cross stitch. Most of all, she loved being with her family and friends and going to church activities. At an early age, Nancy made a profession of faith. While still living in Iowa, she was a member of the First Christian Church of Ames and then the United Methodist Church of Colo. After moving to Missouri, she attended for a time the First Baptist Church in Crocker and was a member of the Idumea Baptist Church of Laquey at the time of her passing. Nancy was very active in her communities. She served with the United Methodist Women’s Circle in Iowa and also as club master for Boy Scouts of America. She was a member of Weight Watchers and TOPS. Nancy will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Elbert Prather of the home; three children: Thomas T. Prather and wife Sue of The Woodlands, TX, Lonnie L. Prather and wife Cassie of Waynesville, MO and Arthena A. Dye and husband Tony of Waynesville, MO; four grandchildren: Shaquille, Zylpha, Madelyn, and Weslee; four siblings: Rose Kincaid of Hamilton, MO, Jim Moore of Nevada, IA, Mary Moore of Nevada, IA, and Kathy Hein of Boone, IA; sister-in-law: Karla Kelly of Ames, IA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Oto Francis Moore (1996), her mother, Vera Lee Robertson Moore (2000), and two brothers, Bob Moore (2013) and Rick Moore (1999). Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Burial will follow in the Deerlick Cemetery of Waynesville.
