Nobuko M. Shaw

February 19, 1929 - June 18, 2017

Nobuko M. Shaw, daughter of the late Kaichi and Tomi (Iwamopo) Miyaguchi, was born February 19, 1929 in Otaru-Shi, Japan where she grew up and attended school. Nobuko worked for a shoe company while still in Japan and then met a United States Army soldier by the name of John Taylor Shaw, who was stationed in Japan. They were united in marriage in Tokyo on March 29, 1956 and shared over 48 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death on April 15, 2004. Nobuko and John were transferred to Ft. Riley, Kansas from Japan. They were then stationed in Germany for a time before coming to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. They decided to make their home in Waynesville after John retired from the Army. Nobuko worked at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital in food service for 20 years and retired in 1993. She was a pioneer member of the SGI-USA and dedicated her life to fighting for world peace. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and loved to share her work with friends and family. Nobuko passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 in the Sunset Village of the Ozarks of St. Robert, Missouri having attained the age of 88 years. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. Nobuko leaves to cherish her memory, one sister: Kyoko Hosobe of Japan and many friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Nobuko was preceded in death by one brother. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Georgia Trotter officiating. Inurnment followed in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery of Waynesville. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Nobuko Shaw and may be left at the funeral home.
