Norma Dodds

May 9, 1934 - October 15, 2017

Norma Dodds, daughter of the late C.O. and Maggie McCoy, was born May 9, 1934 in Edina, Missouri. In 1941, her and her family moved to the Devil’s Elbow, Missouri area. She attended school in Waynesville and graduated from Waynesville High School. After graduating from high school, Norma furthered her education by attending Business College in Springfield, MO and graduated. She then began working as the main secretary for the Provo Marshall’s Office (who is in charge of the MPs on the military installation) on Fort Leonard Wood. She worked there for 9 years where she had a high clearance and received honors and high recommendations from SGT Martin and the General. She resigned from her position to be a full time mother. Norma was united in marriage to Bob Dodds and they were blessed with one son, Bobby. She loved being a mother and was very devoted to her son and her grandchildren as they came along. Norma worked part-time in the family business, Jim’s Sure Quick Market in Buckhorn, Missouri. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, cooking, bowling and taking care of her family. After she and Bob divorced, Norma moved to Richland, Missouri and stayed there for a time before moving to a group home in St. James, Missouri until coming back to Waynesville to the Life Care Center of Waynesville. Norma passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 in the Life Care Center of Waynesville having attained the age of 83 years. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. Norma leaves to cherish her memory her son: Bobby Dodds of Eldon, MO; three grandchildren: Dylan, Briana and Ryan Dodds; one brother: Paul McCoy; other relatives and friends. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery with Pastor Patrick Moore officiating. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
