Pansy P. (McGowan) Dye was born March 4, 1927 to Gus and Almeda (Robertson) McGowan in Swedeborg, Missouri. At an early age, Pansy accepted Christ as her Savior and was a member of Deerlick Baptist Church. On May 20, 1945 in Dallas, Texas, Pansy was united in marriage to Harvey F. Dye, Jr. They shared over 66 years together and were blessed with four children (plus one) Ronnie, Joe, Carolyn, Patricia, Harvey Lynn and Connie. Pansy was first of all a wife, mother and grandmother. She served as a pastor’s wife for over 42 years. She worked various jobs and retired from Walmart in 1989 after working there 25 years. Pansy enjoyed being outdoors. There was nothing she liked better than walking through the woods and exploring nature. She loved working in her garden and yard. Her hobbies, included crocheting, gardening and sewing. She truly loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Pansy passed the morning of Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Life Care Center of Waynesville having attained the age of 91 years, 1 month, and 15 days. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Pansy leaves to cherish her memory her four children: Ronnie Joe Dye (Janice) of Waynesville, MO, Carolyn Lea Dye of Waynesville, MO, Patricia Gambill (Patrick) of Edgar Springs, MO, Harvey Lynn Dye (Paula) of Waynesville, MO; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; son-in-law: Gary Shelden of Waynesville, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pansy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Harvey F. Dye, Jr.; three brothers: Leroy, Herald, and Ralph and four sisters: Margaret, Edna, Josephine and Connie. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in the Deerlick Baptist Church with Pastor Calvin Gladden and Pastor Danny Graves officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “How Great Thou Art”, “In the Garden” and “Serenaded By Angels”. Serving as escorts were Jon Dye, Stephen Dye, Phillip Gambill, Shawn Gambill, Michael Gambill and Mike Shupe. Burial followed in the Deerlick Cemetery of Waynesville. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Pansy Dye to the Deerlick Cemetery Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
