Patsy Lou (Rice) Woodman

Patsy Lou (Rice) Woodman, daughter of the late Cecil Paul and Sylvia Lucylle (Davis) Rice, was born March 13, 1937 in Marshfield, Missouri. She departed this world the morning of March 22, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 79 years and 9 days, after a short illness. As a young girl, Patsy’s family moved to Waynesville, Missouri where she grew up and graduated from Waynesville High School with the Class of 1955. Pat was a very popular at school even becoming a cheerleader. After high school, Pat stayed close to Waynesville working in the family business where she met her future husband. She and Edmund John Kubisiak Jr. were married and to this union two sons were born: Edmund John Kubisiak III and Gary Lee Kubisiak. Pat continued to work in the laundry/dry cleaning business. Pat was a very good business woman and when the opportunity rose for her to purchase Spur Cleaners outside the front gate of Ft. Leonard Wood, she jumped at it! Later she purchased Rice’s Cleaners from her sister and brother-in-law and opened a new store in Springfield. Pat held a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical and Theological Studies. Patsy wore many hats during her time on earth - she was a devoted daughter, sister and wife, a loving mother and grandmother and great grandmother, a loyal friend, a skilled seamstress, and successful business woman. Pat was also active in community affairs, and a charter member of the Pulaski County Historical Society and Museum and a member of the Eastern Star. Patsy also helped with the yearly publication of the Settlers Day Gazette. Pat was an avid reader and was always current on political affairs. She loved to crochet, quilt and other handwork. She also loved her Cardinal baseball team and NASCAR racing. She loved having a good time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Lucylle; her sister, Elizabeth Sue Hansen; brother-in-law, Gary Hansen; grandson, Steven Matthew Huffman; and lifelong friends Elfriede Liane and Lila Rice. Pat was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her sons: Edmund J. Kubisiak (Jackie) of Waynesville, MO and Gary L. Kubisiak (Janet) of Tampa, FL; brother: Paul Rice (Janice) of Waynesville; grandchildren: Laura Huffman, Jeff Huffman and Amanda Click of Waynesville, Crissy and Daniel Kubisiak both of Tampa, FL. Pat was very proud of her two great grandsons: JR Kubisiak of Tampa, FL and Jackson Curlee of Waynesville, MO. She will also be missed, especially by her niece: Teresa Rice Layman; nephews: Brad Rice, Rob Rice and Cary Hansen; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/ St. Robert with Pastor Danny Graves officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “Beulah Land”, “Amazing Grace” and “Precious Memories”. The song “Gathering Flowers for the Master’s Bouquet” by Kitty Wells was played. Serving as escorts were Ron Tagge, Gregg Fields, Pat Fincher, John Paul Richardson, Justin Warrick and Evan Posluszny. Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery of Waynesville. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Patsy Lou Woodman and may be left at the funeral home.
