SFC (Ret) Randall Keith "Randy" Rogers

February 22, 1956 - August 24, 2018

SFC (Ret) Randall Keith “Randy” Rogers, son of the late Richard Henry and MaDonna Lee (Russell) Rogers, was born February 22, 1956 in Denver, Colorado. As a young boy, the family moved and Randy graduated from high school in Kansas City with the Class of 1974. Shortly after graduation, Randy entered the United States Army and served his country faithfully for 20 years in various locations around the world. He earned several awards and commendations; some of which include: Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (2nd Award), Army Service Ribbon, National defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Driver and Mechanic Badge w/w, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal, Rifle -M-16 (Marksman) Badge and Hand Grenade (Expert) Badge. He had attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. Randy met the love of his life, LaWanna Arlene Proctor and they were united in marriage on February 17, 1982 in Belleville, Illinois. They shared over 36 years of marriage together and were blessed with three children: Christina, Chrystal and Jeffrey. After retiring from the military, Randy worked for MWR on Fort Leonard Wood and later retired in July 2016 from the National Armed Forces department. In his spare time, Randy loved spending time outdoors as an enthusiastic hunter and passionate fisherman. He was a lifetime member of the ABA. Randy loved his family tremendously and was always looking for ways to make their family better and stronger. He was very tender hearted and would give you the shirt off of his back. Randy passed away Friday, August 24, 2018 in the Mercy Hospital of Springfield, Missouri having attained the age of 62 years. Randy leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, LaWanna, of the home; three children, Christina LaPee (Mark) of Leavenworth, KS, Chrystal Lawson (Kerry) of Junction City, KS, and Jeffrey Rogers (Jessica) of Springfield, MO; six grandchildren, Jessica Rogers, Bryce Clontz, Thomas Rogers, Autmn Rogers, Kathryn Lawson, and Ryan Rogers; two brothers-in-law, Steven Proctor (Ann) of Freeburg, IL, and Kenneth Proctor (Patty) of New Athens, IL; three nieces, Audrey, Elizabeth, and Olivia Proctor; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by two brothers: Ronnie and Russell Rogers; and two sisters: Rita Crenshaw and Jackie Bischoff. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Graveside services with military honors were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2018 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville, Missouri. Military honors were provided by the United States Army of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Services were held under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Randy Rogers and may be left at the funeral home.
