Ray Allen McFarland
December 23, 1955 - August 10, 2020
Ray Allen McFarland, son of the late Alfred Ray McFarland and Ursula Elfriede Margarette (Rauch) McFarland, was born December 23, 1955 in El Paso, Colorado and moved to Missouri at an early age. Growing up in Waynesville, Ray attended school in the Waynesville R-VI School District and graduated with the class of 1974. Ray spent most of his life doing what he loved, fishing and hunting. But his biggest passion was playing pool! Though he spent several years installing carpet, it was in 1994 in his basement, that he, Harold Martin and Yvonna Bays started the Pulaski County Pool League which is still operating today. The Pulaski County Pool League grew over the years and it now covers several counties. Ray and Harold formed McMcues, making numerous cues over the years. Ray also was known for advising and mentoring young pool players and his best-known piece of advice was “Maybe you need a shot of tequila and think it over.” Ray made many, many friends over the years through the pool league and playing in tournaments. He will be truly missed by his close family friends in Waynesville: Kristi Watson, Dylan Watson, Shaun Stewart, and his girlfriend Connie Cox. There will be a Celebration of Life BBQ and potluck at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020 in the Waynesville Park. So bring your chairs and your stories. We’d love to hear them!
