Retha Kaye Williams Bennett was born July 26, 1959 in Kansas City, Kansas where she grew up and graduated from high school. On September 17, 1975, Retha was united in marriage to William Michael Bennett and they shared over 42 years together and were blessed with three children: Michael Shane, Raven Elizabeth, and Bill Jaye. After moving to the Fort Leonard Wood / Waynesville, Missouri area, Retha began working as a civil service employee for the United States Army in Logistics and retired after many years of service. In her spare time, Retha enjoyed being outdoors. You could find her working out in her gardens or taking a ride on the motorcycle with Mike. She was a life member of the Freedom of the Road Riders Local Chapter 28. She also enjoyed cooking and photography, but most importantly, loved gathering with her family and friends. Everyone loved being around Retha, who was the kindest and most fun loving person. Retha passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in the University of Missouri Hospital & Clinics of Columbia, Missouri having attained the age of 58 years. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. Retha leaves to cherish her memory, her husband: Mike Bennett of the home; three children: Michael Shane Bennett of Leavenworth, KS, Raven Elizabeth Bennett and husband Carson Ray Williams of Columbia, MO and Bill Jaye Bennett and wife Bliss of Waynesville, MO; two grandchildren: Taylor Jade Williams of Columbia, MO and Ella Kaye Sophia Bennett of Waynesville, MO; one brother: Jeff Williams of Kansas City, MO; other relatives and friends. Retha was preceded in death by her mother: Sharon Williams; mother-in-law: Mary Bennett; and father-in-law: Bill Bennett. Even though she is gone from our sight, her memory will live on in our hearts forever. Services were held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2017 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Charles Conley officiating. The songs “Tears in Heaven”, “Mercedes-Benz” and “Amazing Grace” were played. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Retha Bennett to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and may be left at the funeral home.
