Richard Lee "Dick" Shurtleff
March 5, 1944 - April 18, 2015
Richard Lee Shurtleff, the only son of the late Warren Lee and Rose Marie (Wood) Shurtleff, was born March 5, 1944 in Falls City, Nebraska where he grew up and then graduated from Arvada Senior High in Arvada, Colorado. After graduation, Richard entered into the United States Army and served faithfully until his honorable discharge. Richard moved to Springfield, Missouri and later moved to Richland, Missouri. He began driving a truck and did so for Beauford Transport and various other companies for over 30 years. After retiring, Richard was able to do more of the things that he enjoyed. He loved to find Indian artifacts and shooting his gun at target practice. Richard passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 in his home having attained the age of 71 years. He leaves to cherish his wife, Theresa Shurtleff of the home; two daughters: Heidi Marie Shurtleff and Jessica N. Shurtleff (John); three stepsons: Michael Polvado (Kasee), James W. Maness and Nathan A. Maness (Ashley); ten grandchildren: Erika, Erin, Anthony, Michael Jr, Christian, Dustin, Eb, Shane, Shawn, and Ethan; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by one grandson: Ayden Cooper. Memorial services were held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Rev. Christopher Hendrix officiating. The songs “Free Bird”, “You’ll Accompany Me” and “Keeper of the Stars” were played.
